Is there also rumblings about partial refunds for competitors this year? I can only imagine the money which has gone down the drain for no event this year.

I'm going to try, if enough of us get together we'll have a better chance.  I think only 14% of the event was run

No idea at this stage.  I would like for them to go back to AASA.  The 200k limit is a joke, as all the incidents have been well under 200k.  This year was the first time I was checking my speedo on a stage, as I don't fully trust that the rev limiter won't overrun.

The problem is more when a car comes off the road that the GPS can't get a signal out cause the car is upsidedown or the antenna has been ripped off.  It then relys on car to car comunication, which can also fail depending on distance from the road and antenna damage.  I think there needs to be a failsafe that if a unit stops talking back to HQ that a stop and look for car instruction is sent to following cars at the last known location.  There is probably better ways, but the discussion needs to be had.

Yeah hopefully once everything has calmed down and reviewed they will come up with better procedures for rallysafe & incidents.
Having to always check speed is dangerous but at least stuff with efi/after market ecu can set limits.

While I think you've got SFA chance of actually getting money off them, I would hope that they would offer a significant discount on future entries. Despite the event not running in a competitive sense, I don't think the costs to the organisation will be much lower so from their point of view I don't think it will be viable to hand over any cash.

After the shit show that was Targa I lost all motivation for a while.  I'll put the big block in soon and replace the Haltech with a Motec.  I don't recon I'll make it to the mainland till next year, but challenge bathurst does look cool.

I've still got the og shell in the shed and the new shell is almost ready to race again.  I've got a Motec M150 in the car and just sorting a driveline vibration and putting in 10mm fuel lines then it will be running again.

It's the same ABS unit from the old shell.  It was all just lifted and shifted.  I am looking at the BMW MK60 ABS unit as a budget upgrade, as I'm not keen on handing over 15k for a Bosch unit.

    • Jack the back of the car up, pull that wheel off, pull that sensor out, and put a bore scope into the hole to inspect the outer casing, see if anything looks damaged before you pull the whole thing apart.
    • Ergh... So I pulled the speed sensor out again and the tip was shiny so I think it's rubbing the bearing. The bearing contains the magnets for the speed sensor so I think when the first sensor broke it damaged the magnet ring on the bearing.  This is just a Google image, but there is a hole going to the bearing. So when the tip broke off the old sensor I'm guessing it fouled the bearing... As the magnet is only protected by a plastic cover it would be easy to damage it. So I guess I'm doing a bearing again.
    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
