Not a real lot of major work has been happening with Cheryl lately,,,just a lot of jobs that need doing before the interiors finished.

I've almost decided on wheels though,,,I'm thinking R32 GTR V-spec's. If they are good enough for a 4wd then they are good enough for me. I have a set here I'm minding so I fit them up and see what they look like.

I've pulled the pin on running at World Time Attack,,,I need a speed fix sooner so the Radical is going to get some work done on her and I'll be going hillclimbing again.

Seems there's no rush though as my tyres are still on the way from pommy land,,,Avon stuffed up the order apparently.

Early on in this thread someone thought I was crazy not spending my budget on the Radical,,,check these lap times out of Wakefield last weekend. Mines a 2000 Prosport,,,not the latest SR3. I'd be about a 1.01.

which would be great for maybe 2 seasons and I'd still be packing shelves at Woolies every night.

But on a different note,,,I've changed my mind on wheels,,,I thought I was only allowed to go up an inch both ways from standard which would be 17 x 7.5 but a re-read of the rules see's me able to run 2 inches both ways so I'm now looking for 18 x 8.5.

After much searching I finally bought these Sparco belts. Not only because the dollar is great but you just can't buy them here at the moment.

Neil - Shame you cant run 9" wide wheels, 33 GTR rims wouldve been the go.

There are plenty of good light 8.5" wide wheels around...just not 2nd hand

Yea I hear what you are saying Zebra-man but it's all good,,,given the power output I'm restricted to I think the 18's will be great. I'm just about finished with buying out of the states,,,I only need a dry sump pump now.

I received my gauges today,,,I must say stack make great gear,,,everything is included,,,funny the pressure senders are autometer and all connectors are water proof.

I bought oil and water temp,,,oil and fuel pressure. That should do me nicely.

they arent too bad but lots more than aftermarket jap rims - and the older touring 18's like im using are non staggered even offset

what about evo wheels? pretty sure they are 18x8, you would just need a spacer to fix the homo offset they run

Oh wash your mouth out with soap Ben,,,that sounds absolutely disgusting.

Here's something that has turned out great,,,nothing to do with the car but it makes life in the garage easier. Rather cold tonight. $500 bucks well spent.

I've seen this conversion done before,,,using rear shock mounts on the front,,,pretty easy really.

I removed the larger factory studs out of my standard front struts top hats and machined the heads down to fit in the HKS mounts using an electric drill as a lathe and a file in the vice. Next I drill out the holes with a 10.5mm drill and pressed the studs in using my vice. Worked a treat.

I like my apple juice and I like it sweet.

I did heaps of very stupid little un-interesting jobs on the weekend,,,but this was a bit of fun. I've never played with carbon fibre before and after some hours of working out where I wanted my gauges,,,seems like I need to buy one more. Volts or Exhaust temp,,,I can't decide,,,but I did leave some room for switches and idiot lights.

That is what I need to mount my gauges on - please text me where you sourced the carbon fibre sheet from.

How are you going with wheel selection?

I have a few sets for my car but 18 x 8 with a 30 offset seems to provide good clearance and fills the R33 guards well.

Good old Jap wheels are a lot lighter and stronger that some of the new options that are going around and still affordable. You also have to think about spares as well so multiple sets would be in order. I have stuck with the old favourites of SSR, Enkie, Buddy Club, Nismo and OZ Racing for my collection in keeping with the R33 becoming a classic and look better with rims from the same era.

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree.     • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
