Tucks up nicely, the factory one used to scrape sometimes backing out my driveway.

Cracked the front pipe trying to undo the bolts so tacked it back up until I get my dump and front pipe from Scotty.

I did this today.

I've been talking with Roger at Hybrid Development Industries for several months now, and expressed interest in their MAX-Rom subcomputer when they announced that they were planning to introduce it to the NM35 Stagea market.

First run was 179kw (all runs in RWD); this was the second run.

This was (I think) the 4th run; was starting to sound quite mean by this stage.

Boost control from the OEM controller was all over the place, so we ditched it and put this on.

This is a monstrous effort on the stock injectors!

Roger and Adam Neish did a fantastic job on the dyno tune, and then after a road test made a couple of small adjustments to get rid of a tiny knock event.

The tune is quite conservative; with the injectors at 87% duty and running just 12-13psi. In Adam's words the tune is "As safe as houses" his comment about Roger's tune was "He still puts down the numbers" which was a pretty solid compliment coming from Adam.
Keeping in mind that this is the very first tune they've ever done on a Stagea; and this is the first step of a process of development, I think it's a fantastic starting point.

He was very impressed with the little VQ, and reckoned it was still making solid power at 6500rpm.

The difference in the way the car drives is just unbelievable.

Previously the injectors were maxed at 5100rpm, so I could never really use full throttle through the rev range.
The car while fast; was never completely happy, and ran very rich on boost.

It has run a 13.8sec quarter @102mph; but there was much more to be had.

It never hit AFM cut, but there was so much potential to unlock; well, consider it unlocked now!

Nice Dale, quite nice but I do have one question.

Why the hell is there no Daleo or Scoty intake pipe? I see a rubber bend in that pic!

Dale can only be stuffed replacing the lower part on his intakes. :P

That intake piping was the one thing I loved about my old NM35 engine bay.

On another note, cars feels really good. Surprisingly so actually.

Low end response is noticably more lively and it "feels" easier to rev (certain it is not placebo). Very happy - was my best case scenario.

Doesn't feel noticably more powerful, just happier to rev. Now to get rid of that Y-pipe and begin build on my Hydrogen separator cell. Should be interesting.

Reference: I would recommend for anyone that has a VQ35de Stag to grab a set of Z34/V36 OEM headers and work out some cats to fit.

I would guess that some V36/G37 high flow cats would bolt on but cannot be certain as Scott combined by cheap, non-fitting de-cat pipes with my VQ35de Berk cats to fit as desired.

It works, and I don't really believe there's much to be gained by replacing it with a hard pipe or a silicone reducing bend of much the same dimensions.

    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
