I forgot to mention that 67% duty cycle was on 98 too by the way....:whistling:

your turbo is prob slightly bigger than mine too manuel so im hoping my injectors will be sweet for 270kw

Do you know what your injector cycle is hitting with 300kw?

6 year bump.

Is a power fc (r33 gtst) capable of running e85 and flex tune?
I know you need a e85 pump, fuel lines and compatible injectors but what else is needed?

PowerFC can tune for E85 (it's just fuel), but it will not do flex fuel.

But a stock RB20DET with Nistune and the feature pack can control VCT, run full flex, launch control and basic engine protection strategies such as RPM limit vs. coolant temp and max TP Load vs RPM fuel cuts - which a PowerFC cannot do at all.

Sell PowerFC, get Nistune, left over money from PowerFC proceeds to buy a flex sensor.

Nistune doesn't come with APEXi sticker does it? :P

I didn't know nistune had all those features.
Im tempted to run only e85 as i have a fair amount of e85 stations within close proximity and i have a second car.
Is an fuel flex tune a lot more expensive than a normal tune?
I was thinking of getting an adaptronic if i go flex fuel would this be a good option?
I don't plan any of this soon I'm just trying to gain some knowledge

Adaptronic is a great ECU if you spend heaps of time scaling everything properly, setting up all the tables and working on the timing map to be as near OEM as possible before you start tuning. This is something most tuners don't do because I've seen a good handful of tunes by so called big tuners and they're horrid.

I'm happy to provide anyone with a very good base map to work with, has all the sensors scaled properly, timing map (off boost) as close to oem as possible and all the cranking tables defined nicely so it starts in any weather.

However if you're going to send it to a shop, get a Haltech because their base maps are very good meaning your favourite tuner won't need to do much work to make the car drive well.

There was a big thing in Facebook about it a couple of months ago. Shell rep saying that there was basically zero chance of them ever selling E85 at servos in Australia despite them being the supplier for V8 supercars

Would this work with the Modular ECU?

Hi, I've got an E1280s that Ive written custom code for and would be very interested to see your base map as a starting point for my tuning.

Thanks

Alex

Big thumbs up to Johnny's base map for the adaptronic. Ive been disappointed by tunes from "reputable" places.

Adaptronic's base map can only be described as poo. Retarded poo. At least it shouldn't blow the engine unlike some tunes Ive seen from "tuners".

To Johnny's map, I have added a few more degrees of timing in the cruise area and slightly more on the transition to boost around 93kpa.

However from experience the fuel maps are not comparable, you'll have to do the hard yards with your own afr sensor to set the VE values.

Happy to send it to anyone and also my final map on my previous motor that spat out ring lands after a years worth of abuse at 370kW+ on the track (not tune related, motor had over 300k kms, and an average of 1.7bar of boost through it - note completely stock unopened, bar head studs).

I believe you can import the map into the modular ECU, at the very least the the tables you need.

I'd love to have a copy Johnny if you'd be so kind. I am ordering an Adaptronic Modular soon and just assumed that the Skyline plug n play Modular came with a decent base map, seems not!!

    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
    • I don't care for these at all, but at least the underside looks straight and not rusty. A good basis for a long life. Many cars from Japan have been lifted with forklifts and f**ked almost irrepairably.
    • Yes, but it's not dumb or dodgy. You can build a perfectly good boost controller from a pressure reg, a relief valve (looks same same as a reg if all from Norgren or SMC, for example) and a check valve. I ran one for years. Only superceded with  EBC because I could get one for cheaps and wanted finer control.   THis mod is certainly not a sketchy boost mod, provided the boost is kept below the "spin to death" threshold of the turbos.
