I have a few cashed up bogan tradie mates (all drive modified ford utes) that buy every single jordan/ewing when they are released... no matter what the style/colour etc. they spend thousands every year

i just don't get it

I know a guy who collects em...He has boxes stacked to the ceiling, they never leave the box, and eventually get sold at those sneaker freaker meets... so that he can buy more shoes that will never leave the box...

Seems strange to me, fair enough if you're gonna wear em, or even display them if that's your thing...but to buy em to sit in a box to sell for a small profit, to spend on more of the same, doesn't do it for me...

far better ways to make money..

Well considering they are already going for double retail on resale market it's pretty easy to understand imo

Yeh, but the people I am referring to have no intention of selling them... in fact they really only seem to do anything because it's what their mates/workmates do.

Guess it's same as those dudes who have massive car collections that are never driven, only looked at.

Some shoes you can make money off, others will stay the same or lose value. Same as cars really.

Well we can safely say the above ain't me! Haha

Yeh I display mine I mean I have no reason to buy them but I guess for me it's a hobby some people have hats. Model cars stamps etc it's not like it's some financial strain on me and I'm selective all the ones I have are worth more than what I paid so if I was so inclined I'd just sell em and move on so really no loss to me either way

There are some I wear but very very few

Hamish y u describe all my pet peeves in one post?

That damn shoe thread has made me add at least 5 pairs of shoes to my "collection" (and I used to be very anti collection), but I do wear all my shoes.

I f**kin love dudes like this, half the time they sell shit for significantly less than resale or even retail value or they get bored and sell up everything with a 99c start on ebay. You end up with DS pairs for like $60.

Then you're either not looking hard enough or not patient enough.

Sounds ambitious but I only really get the reebok / jordan or Lebrons so perhaps they are more popular than stuff your chasin.. I've seen some go for retail or slightly over never below for DS

    • Starter motors used to use the weight of metal (magnets) to provide torque. Now they use (more) current instead. This. It's completely normal.
    • So thing that had me stumped, but I think is OK....is that when it was up in the air, in neutral I had it running to bleed to coolant while I put the wheels back on. I noticed the rears were turning (slowly) which I'd never seen before 20250928_163512.mp4     Because there had been an issue with clutch slip due to pedal adjustment on the dyno, I assumed there was still and issue so spent some quality time upside down under the dash adjusting the pedal....but no matter what I did the wheels still turned in neutral. Even disconnected the master cylinder to pedal rod and same. In despair, I even removed the clutch slave so there was no chance of any preload causing it.....still happened. So either: 1. Something is not right in the bellhousing, or 2. Its a thing sometimes with cold, thick gearbox oil Internet says it might be 2, I hope so!
    • OK, few more things sorted and it is ready for a shakedown on 10-Oct, with one weird thing. Changed the run in oil and filter for the good stuff. 8l came out, about 8.5 went in with filter so that looks all good. Changed the starter (again), this time for a brand new one, works good. Interesting that the Taaaarks one is shorter than factory but spins harder, I guess electronics have moved on a little in the last 30 years. Will be nice to have a bit of extra space under there. Put the timing cover back on, and noted where the cam gears were set as a record.  Will need to double check the timing but it is pretty close. Also put the coil pack cover and intake snorkel back on. Exhaust Inlet Changed the water out for coolant, bled up nicely. Removed the rear brake pads (well worn factory sumitomo ones!), gave the hardware a good clean and reassembled. I've put bendix XP on the back again because the price is excellent at $150 a set and they worked well on the V37. Front pads have plenty so no issue there
    • Mine is all -12, I’m running a dry sump in a billet block though
