Alright, so i've compiled all the bits I need for ~270rwkw, only thing i'm unsure of is coilpacks. Would it be worth getting a set of Splitfires as a precaution before towing the car to Trent's? If so, there's a 2nd hand/nearly set on eBay for $450, is that steep or about right? Currently running stockies with no problems.

pretty sure i got mine for around 450 new delivered from nengun maybe 3 years ago

Can't remember what I paid for mine... think it was a little less than that though...

If you've got some time, I'd be ordering new OEM ones from amayama... be prepared to wait a few weeks though

Anyone got xforce catback here? how do you rate them??

http://www.xforce.com.au/products.php?make=FPV&model=101

can pick up a twin 3" for just over 1k new.

have had an xforce cat back and know a few others that have had them.

fitted fine and worked fine, some were silly loud others average loud, seems to differ depending on the model car.

i had 320kw on the stock coils with 190,000km

no point replacing them if they arent stuffed.

Hmm maybe i'll go with this for now. I've spent like 2k in the last few weeks on car stuff; that's a whole chunk of summer work down the drain. If they break down it's only like $150 for an extra hour of tuning I guess. My car has genuine 104,000 so might be okay..

I'm gonna wing it and hope for the best. The coils aren't cracked or damaged, and as titan said, no point replacing if they aren't stuffed... Only one way to find out - more boost!

Trent tuning it? He usually asks for new coils, either Splitfire or OEM, just so you don't waste his time. ;)

You should get that alloy intake today, I shipped it yesterday morning.

Cool, he has PM.

Yea Trent.. Okay I will keep an eye out for some splitfires then. Cheers for the quick postage, looking forward to seeing it; one of the final pieces of the puzzle! :D

Yeah try and fix any issues before you go to Trents

Otherwise you might have to wait a few weeks before you can book again

When you put in the 'new' coil packs might as well change your spark plugs too.

Probably even leave the cover off for easy access if Trent wants to double check anything

When it stalls is it nearly like a switch off, like you've turned the engine off? Or is it more stutters and sputters and coughs to death over a few seconds? Or does the RPM just slowly keep going down and down? Have you done a test of trying to start it with the AFM unplugged? Does it still die?     If you Follow Josh's advice on using Nistune to check the voltages (which is a perfect method!) if you see anything out of wack voltage wise, THEN get the multimeter out and read the voltage directly at the sensor. If the two vary, then you're now looking for a wiring issue vs a sensor issue. So be aware, what the ECU sees, may not be what the sensor is actually saying too...
    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
