Did you have a discussion with him already? Why are you turned off his work? Which by all reports I've heard, is amazing

I have and we don't see eye to eye in regards of what I want from vehicle security.

Don't need much in the way of an alarm or immobiliser, just something basic

If it hasn't scared the guy off when a basic alarm goes off, your car is getting stolen no matter what you spend on it

SO MUCH THIS

Thank you Adam.

I also leave my key in the ignition barrel because I have an immobiliser

If old mate wants to steal it at least he will see it's immobilised maybe instead of smashing my ignition barrel

Sure, why not?

So, when discussing alarm options with him the models he suggested were too pricey / feature rich for what you were after... and he wasn't interested in flying down here to install a supplied autobarn alarm?

Obviously he gets more of a profit from a Supply / Fit as opposed to Fit only...

Though, if you want a budget one, just buy and install it yourself using all the best practice alarm install methods.

Of course, that's why I didn't go for him.

I asked him what are the options of something that is decent and reliable and he didn't offer me one that isn't over the top feature-wise.

And I've got a over the top system with UNRELIABLE remote known to man (ain't paying for replacement that won't last once you use it reasonably), won't do shit twice in a week, thank god I didn't pay for the install otherwise I'd show up and be diagnosed with tourette syndrome afterwards.

Looking for some coilovers for a 34 GTT, 33 GTR or 34GTR

anyone know where i can get some asap ?

@HEKT1K howd you go with buying smart phone overseas? i want a HTC One Mini 2, telstra are only Aus provider and want $530 outright. cheapest on ebay international is $490 and kogan were selling for $399 but sold out (i dont know how theres such a price gap but who knows if theyll get stock soon)

I really don't like looking through there, it's the most idiotic layout and makes looking for certain things tedious and time consuming.

I've already had a quick look over and really can't see anything.

Ended up just buying a cheapie mp3 player with wifi as that's all I needed. Didn't want to roll the dice on some region locked phone, or risk smashing it again whilst intoxicated lol

Am I the only one who thinks "f**k you" towards those people who post stolen skyline threads and only have 20 posts, i.e. !o social participation on SAU, but expect other people to frequent here / socially participate and help them out in their hour of need? Kind of like leeching files on a peer to peer file sharing program. Their post history is almost always full of "help me" posts.

you can't expect all import owners to live on forums mate, we don't all have 27xxx+ posts, although years ago I had a job where I was basically at a computer all day and did nothing but talk shit on forums.

EDIT*- (not saying you talk shit, that sounded bad)

Theres one in the vic section "stolen R34" something about hit and runs... Im guessing thats the one your referring to.

but still Ive been a member for years, recently joining as a SAU vic member.

If my car got stolen id sign up to every car forum and post it everywhere ....

That's the thing though, if everyone did what these guys do...there would be hardly anyone viewing their posts in the first place and helping him out.

It really would be the equivalent of a heap of leechers on a file transfer network and no suppliers. Asking for help from a community that you only ever seek help from is poor form IMO.

Plenty of known people on here who say hi from time to time without being total strangers or sitting on here all day.

you never know, they could be part of the mighty car mods forums with hundreds and thousands of posts!

therefore not leeching, and in fact contributing!

    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
