It's either that or sending your laptop off to MSI for RMA, wait 6 weeks, only to be told by some overseas repair person that it's fine and you get stuck in a never ending loop with a $2,600 piece of plastic.

I liked Dells customer support, part sent to me via Toll priority, booked in with repairman, repairman comes to address I specified and fixes it. I sent off old part >_>. Would've been nicer if it wasn't chewing through hard drives and power plugs though.

I noticed a sign at centercom saying 25% restocking fee if you change your mind....There's no way I'm paying over $600 to give back a piece of shit...

I'll call them tomorrow and see what my options are....I'm guessing they're just gonna tell me it's too bad

A product or good has a major problem when:

  • it has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying it if they’d known about it
  • it is unsafe
  • it is significantly different from the sample or description
  • it doesn’t do what the business said it would, or what you asked for and can’t easily be fixed.

Point one would be my best hope, maybe point 4 but they didn't really say 'it will connect to wifi with a decent speed like your 5 year old laptop which cost half as much'

See if you can just trade it straight for this:

http://www.centrecom.com.au/asus-g550jk-cn436h-156-led-intel-core-i7-4710hq-16gb-ram-256gb-ssd-gtx850m-4gb-dedicated-graphics-blu-ray-rw-windows-81

It was originally $2,600 so I guess you can think of it as trading without losing out. Slightly lower specs but a much better overall laptop.

Battery relocated to boot

Do people even know what they are talking about when they write their for sale ads...better off just saying the km, a price and some pics.

I relocated the battery to the boot in my 4 door...

What's lower spec about it? The CPU and ram look like they're the same.. 256ssd same, no 1tb had though..

Graphics card not as good?

Display?

I don't think I should have to swap row a cheaper model considering the msi doesn't work properly... I'll see what they say today... I'd even spend a little more than the $2550 I already did if it's the difference between the next model up etc..

You have the same wifi card?

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2241695

Apparently the top of the range ASUS come with the same card so whichever knob juggling thunder kent told you that you should've bought an ASUS instead is talking out of their ass.

Anyway, issue seems to be with the card's inability to stay on a single radio band. Looks like removing all the intel drivers and letting Microsoft default drivers install helps. Otherwise pull the card out of the expansion slot and install another wifi card that does 5ghz 2.4ghz and Bluetooth. They're like $50 tops.

    • Hi all, so some of my speakers still work some I don’t think work. The old head unit is still all functional. If I keep the stock head unit as I feel it’s vintage then can I just pop in new speakers - would that be plug and play? Would I need to bypass the amps in the doors and back? Heard there’s 3 of them.  anyone run a blue tooth into the stock head unit? Or is the only option running one of those tape decks with cable coming out?  my cd deck controller although rare I don’t think is working anymore either. Guess if I got that working with the speakers then I could load some cds.    just seeing my options here if anyone has some advise.
    • My trusted mechanic is Tunehouse in Calder St, Marrickville. He's the guy who did the ECUtek dyno tune on mine. I'm nearing the 85k mark for my motor and I'm considering getting the oil galley gaskets done as preventative maintenance when the time comes. Since my garage isn't big enough for such a task, I'm definitely going to be handing it over to him. You'll be impressed by how clean he keeps his workshop. It gives you the confidence he and his employees will look after your vehicle with the same pride.
    • The Bogan Sports Car now has fresh gear bag and diff oil The old gear bag oil was nice and clean looking, the old diff oil was average looking, not horrible, just dark, I've seen worse in other cars, much worse Good things was that both drain plug magnets looked good with zero bits of anything apart from a small coating of that typical black goo you get on the diff plug, it was probably the original diff oil, but nothing shiny The shifts are sweet, and the Torsen is Torsening like a boss (tested in the work vehicle maintenance yard after work). LOL In other noise related news, the Racing Beat axle back sound nicer than stock from outside with the roof down, but still pretty quiet, but it's not noticeable at all really inside with the roof up.....maybe it needs a header.....🤪  This is what a OEM header looks like 😝 > 🤣🤣🤣🤑
    • what about people that have loud exhausts on automatics?
    • Does it have a vacuum brake booster? If it does, and the booster isn't connected you will get TPS and all sorts of other codes, and it will struggle to idle Have you driven the car, checked the brakes?
