Hussling hard now to get seat time and make car all good  see if can get some early track time over east

🤞

Itd be really nice to have some luck 😁

Nice! I hope it all works out. At least now you know the track as well and can build from last year. Looking forward to see your car in action again.

You know it's cold when even the Tasmanian's are rugged up!

Can't wait to see the pictures of the next step.

Its was definitely cold 🥶  us w.a people dont take too well to it

We even took to doing 2 warm up laps to get to the tyre temp we wanted

Update for those that want a read

A week before Aus Time Attack in Vic did a prac day got few laps then carbon bonnet decided to fold on itself whether it too much air under the lip, a pin failure or just pin not cliped in it happened... got fab guy to plate it 2mm ally each side and wrapped it. 15kg heaver but solid and mad max ready to race

Greg from Sydney Comp having a new carbon bonnet ready for us for WTAC

Off to Aus Time Attack at Winton for first time another 3.5 day all day drive

Did pretty decent with 4th in Open class and 6th outright with 1.24 flat

Way more in it I was just too inconsistent to extract a quicker time without more track time and by the time I got decent enough to drive a good lap the tyres where cooked

Still OK

Drove the car straight up to Sydney and put in storage ready for WTAC flew home to Perth

Blaaa blaaa the opportunity came to replace the billet RB2.7 with a brand new RB2.8 billet nitto wide journal complete engine a round about deal was done and Dahtones put it in this week and Brads tuning it on Thurs

FB_IMG_1719899642824.thumb.jpg.b0422434428bf0c96f8cd286304907ab.jpgIMG_20240713_090449_940.thumb.jpg.248e00ace528deda8e20f2981cc5948a.jpg

The RB2.7 would be avaiable for purchase from Racetech is anyone wants it such a killa engine !!

Apart from that its back into storage till the new bonnet gets put on and I rock back to Sydney  in 6 weeks on the Monday before WTAC to prep the car get some practice in and send it and see what happens!

Update over ... for now 😁

in reality the new engine was a swap alot because it was brand new vs 3 years old and the other one needing a refresh after wtac anyway

but... the 2.8 is obvious capacity etc and will do current power more easily and add some responsiveness not that that was really lacking

the limiting factor with all this atm is injectors (ID1700s at 4 bar base) and turbo (precision 6780) literally being maxed out at bang on 1000hp as thats what the system was designed to do, so to go more need injectors, turbo and  maybe even intercooler

but i know a guy that like his power and will see how this all unfolds

it is a rwd drive on an 050 tyre though and i am just a complete amateur so among other things the ability to drive it becomes a consideration also

>complete amateur
>1:24 at Winton laggy massive HP RWD R32

I dunno about the first part
I would argue this use case probably doesn't need VCT, won't be in the rev range that it would ever be active!

medium amateur ??

VCT rather have than not and they NEO heads anyway... agree shouldnt be down there in revs agree but one  does stuff up at times and does help 😁

Wouldn't it be of the power range where a larger cam is more beneficial that is not VCT friendly?

Generally speaking I'm ALL for smaller cams and VCT, but I am not making 1000HP in a time attack car. This could actually be an application where a larger camshaft that isn't VCT capable may actually have a use case.

Youd think.. dunno

Big cams and VCT makes all the sense.

Kind of have the best of both worlds (kinda).

All these engines run Tomie B pro poncams

This becomes above my pay grade and rely on others and get I quote "your decision making powers have been revoked" 😅

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
