It sucks to go through what you have endured. Especially when you haven't taken any short cuts and forked out the hard earned dosh. At least very soon you will be able to finally enjoy your fine vehicle and the past can become a distant memory. Hopefully you can get some sort of reimbursement on the costs of the f*#k up. Good luck.

Yeah, looking forward to getting it back, had so much shit after the build , there were not many good times, well except straight after Jez tuned it, that was fun but had to put the car in the garage for 2 months until I could have the leak looked at properly and without any crap.

I will try very hard to get a fair result as far as the $s go, I have plenty of time on my hands

Was this the coolant leak issue? Far out, didn't realise you were still going through dramas with this car - sorry to hear! Hopefully all can get fixed up soon so you can enjoy it

Hi James, yeah it has been going on since the build back in March last year.

I had to have the tests and checks done elsewhere and the true problem was found after the motor was pulled out and a long process of checking each possible cause.

I do have a full report and have given it to the builder, I will wait to hear from them .

The report is pretty conclusive as to where the problem was and when it happened .

I've barred workshops all together for doing shit like this to my other 32 so I know exactly what your going through. Always plenty of finger pointing going on.

Now i have serious trust issues when you expect your car to be in the best hands, it almost never is.

I'm never leaving my car with any workshop, It's been about 13yrs since I've used one and couldn't be happier.

I know what you mean, but my body is stuffed and I could not do the work, even if I was capable of doing it, NOT! , lol

I am feeling confident with the new shop, he tells it as it is , even if I am a pest at times, like all the time, haha

Genuinely good people are hard to find, hopefully it's up and running soon. [emoji106]

Just waiting for the rocker covers to be powder coated and it is taking forever and once that is done, button it up and tune the sucker :woot:

I've been to a few places where they have a big sign up, saying like "our normal hourly rate it $80/hr, if you talk to us while working its $120/hr, if you start telling us how to do our job its $160/hr", was more but i forget now

My tuner was happy to chat though without the extra charge and let me do some easier tasks..

haha, I saw that sign a couple of days ago at Barclays Marina , to top everything off I went to use my boat on Australia Day, started rough, revved a little but would not idle, pulled the dip stick and out came caramel oil, yes my intake manifold had stuffed the last time I used it and water had been sitting in the donk for a few months and it was farked!

When it rains crap it just keeps falling, lol

Must be due for a win soon Peter! Looking forward to you getting some rewards back from the hard slog this build has been..

It OK Mark, still kicking and enjoying life

I am pretty sure I will have the car back soon and cannot wait to feel it boost and have a couple of spirited runs around the hills, after about 7 months it should feel even better :woot:

Hi , Well this must be close to the final tune , I think :special: .

Advanced hard for response, I know you all love it  used a 262 8.7 intake and 260 10.8 sharp ramp exhaust cams

I lost 14.6 KW up top

A few specs

Here is the power and torque overlay on E85 vs old Dyno
1000nm torque at 4000rpm
Gained 260nm at 3200rpm
Gained 75kw at 3200rpm
Gained 160nm at 3900rpm
Gained 50kw at 3900rpm

This must be getting close to a V8 performance

Still waiting for the final reports on the water leak but only days away.

Yes, The End!

The Final Tune!

I think ?

Maybe

Could be ? :action-smiley-069:

Definitely flattened out that bottom end nicely would be mad to drive.

Do you think the 14 kilowatts was lost in the lack of lift in the intake camshaft?

I'm assuming you had the same size lift intake and exhaust on the old Dyno run?

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
