If you fit the tweeter cups in too tight to the top of the door trim you can end up being annoyed by the impossibility of dusting/wiping under the cup.

And if you go too close to the the A pillar you can cause a lot of annoyance to yourself when you close the doors and tweak the screws that hold the tweeter to the triangle.

Yeah I'll see how I go. Had a few tweeters on the triangles of other cars. These cups are a lot bigger though. Hard to see on the photos I took but there's a bit of space in there still.

Harness is slowly coming along. Have terminated the bulkhead connector along with ignition and injector T offs.

Need to get it into the car so I can work out lengths for the rest of the sensors and start terminating them.

Have ordered some 3/4" Raychem to cover the first 300mm or so and also the required ecu connectors for the furyx so I can start making the other half of the harness.

Ill get around to ripping out the old ecu and wiring at some stage as well and start looking at mounting a few relays and things down there to power the new setup.

Harness is slowly coming along. Should have the the bits and pieces I'm missing for it tomorrow and I'll be able to finish this part off. Need to order some new pins for injectors and coilpacks so I can make those sub harnesses.

Dbw adapter arrived this week as well so I popped it on to see what it'll look like with the silver. I think I might get it anodised black. I'd like to do the TB as well but it's a pain in the ass to disassemble.

I have ordered a 350z/V35 pedal which should also be here this week. I'll have to get a connector for that and I should be pretty much set to wire back to the ECU.

You are killing it with the progress!!!  God I wish I was that focussed!!

Looking good, keep it up!

Haha thanks man, I wish I had more time to do it! Get maybe an hour or two in the arvos so I try and do little bits while I can haha.

🤣🤣 bulkhead was a c**t today... I had to depin it so I could put the last bit of heatshrink on. So tomorrow arvo will be spent pinning it back up, hopefully in the correct positions 🫣

My dbw pedal arrived today as well so over the weekend I might pull the stock one out and pop this in and see what adjustments I have to make to it.

Will also look at pulling factory harness out and laying the new harness in and get lengths to start the injector and coil pack harnesses as well as changing a couple of connectors on the trigger sensors so I can boot/heatshrink them.

Finished pinning up the bulkhead again this arvo and then popped out into the shed and decided to mount a tweeter. Got them secured into a good spot with @GTSBoy comment about cleaning/clearance.

Unfortunately the woofers are pretty big and don't bolt into the stock pod so I will look at either modding them or maybe cut out some new ones from the MDF I got.

Measured about 40mm of space ive got to work with to the door card so 2x18mm glued together should work out well.

Further to that and my advice ref the tweeters, have a look for my post about a year or so ago where I built some pods for the 6.6s I put in.

Tweeters look good by the way. That's a decent mount.

Didn't get anything done over the weekend unfortunately. But got stuck in today and got the woofer spacers all cut out. 2x18mm thick that I'll glue together for a little bit more rigidity and then give it a bit of a trim up to try and get them a bit nicer and more matched. Drilled the stock holes out and put some nutserts in and mounted one side up to see how it sits andddd the door card still fits. I believe it sits out about 6mm further than stock and it looked like you could come out further when I tried to look through the speaker grille. Did some measuring and the distance from the back of the stock speaker spacer to the mounting surface is 65mm. The new speaker depth is 70mm so it should sit out 1mm further than the back of the stock spacer which will clear the window coming down :D

I ordered new injector, coil pack, dbw pedal connectors as well as a 90⁰ boot for the bulkhead connector. Should have them this week sometime then I can start making those up.

In the meantime I'm gonna change pedals over and mount the 3 port pressure sensor block up next to the booster somewhere and I'll have to get some AN3 fittings and hose. Going to mount Oil, Coolant and MAP on it to get them off the engine and I'll leave the fuel pressure sensor on the reg.

Still have to find somewhere to mount the trans thermostat, bolt up the ac pump and put the belt on.

I had a quick look at the engine harness and forgot that I loomed it all up with the body wiring 😴😴 I'll have to pull it all out, cut the engine harness out and redo it to make it neat again.

Pulled the stock pedal out this arvo and bolted up the V35 pedal. It's not too bad, but definitely not the right angle of the dangle. I'm thinking a little tweak to the right and angle it down a bit more and it'll be sweet.

Popped the engine harness in and got a couple of measurements for the coil packs and injectors. Got the coil pack harness all twisted up and terminated. Will finish sheathing it tomorrow and hopefully start splicing the 12V and GND.

Couple hours on the harness today. My boot and last couple of dtm connectors finally rocked up.

90⁰ boot looks awesome! Got the coil pack harness labelled and started pinning up a few connectors and sealing them up. Better have no issues with this harness for another 20 yrs 🤣

Away for the weekend doing work on my Uncles place so won't be any progress until next week :(

Johnny said a new pedal will basically turn it into an M2.

DBW throttle body requires a sensored pedal.

Ahhh, so I missed the, now clearly important, previous post about the shift to DBW. 🤦‍♂️

Finally got a couple hours yesterday and got stuck into the injector harness.

Went to plug them all in and one didnt seat. Pulled the pins out and Golebys sent me a wrong pin.... They'll be sending out new pins this week sometime.

Did a little bit on it today. The connectors aren't bootable so I shrunk some SCL around the end of it which is just enough for the boot not to be able to pull off easily and makes it look 100x better.

Need to get a couple hours and put it in the car and see where I need to crimp the 8way connectors and splice the powers in both and gnd in coilpack harness.

awesome progress, so after putting in the 350z pedal do you think thats a good pedal or would a bosch pedal and custom mount be better (yes i know the cost isn't the same).

Not sure tbh, both have pros and cons. 350z pedal pros - match stock pedals, bolt in, cheaper (2nd hand) cons - needs modding.

Engine harness is almost finished now. Waiting on those new pins to finish the injector 4 connector, need a new knock sensor connector as it came out when I was trying to depin it and a flex sensor plug too.

ECU is sold now so I can go ahead and order the new FuryX as well as a new Bosch LSU 4.9 and a flex fuel sensor.

Work has ramped up now so I'm going to lose my afternoons or a Saturday to work on the car... Still got a fair bit to do, wiring, plumbing, fab, sound system etc. Will eventually get around to it 🤣😭

    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
