Considering cobra only joined SAU 5 minutes before replying to your post, I'd be doing cash on pick up only. I could be wrong but this has all the hallmarks of a scam.

RB25 Neo transmission break in
admS15 replied to NickER34's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The gearboxes come pre filled with Castrol vmx from Nissan. Run it for a couple thousand k's with that and then change to whatever flavour of gl4 gear oil you prefer. -

Mate, it's pretty shit what's happened and what you're going through right now but I wouldn't rage quit just yet. It's just one of those unfair shit things that happens in life. Get those useless pricks to put a new guide in, test it for leaks and then slap it back together and hopefully enjoy for a long time trouble free. If it carries on breaking things after that, then reconsider rage quitting then. I'll happily make you a shit offer and take it off your hands or help you burn it. Cheers

You get what you pay for I suppose. Where do you get zestino from at those prices? -

Still rocking ad08r from 2016 on my street wheels, still got decent tread and grip. I'll probably replace with the same, next time there's a good deal. Track wheels still fitted with ar1, haven't done much track work for ages, would still consider buying a new set depending on the price. Not sure if they're still cheap. I recently bought an rs Megane and it came with zestino o7a (harder street tyres). I did a day recently at Sandown and found them to be quite decent. I managed a flat 1:29, there was 2 other Meganes with more power and suspension mods and on ar1's doing 1:26 and 1:27. Racechrono reckons theoretically a low 1:28 was achievable. So the zestino couldn't have been too bad. They are a little noisy on the street though. Came with the car, not complaining. They held up pretty good too after the track day, unlike the brakes which only lasted 2 sessions before the spanners had to come out. On the same day, Richo had his R33 out on 4-5 year old RS4 and did a lazy 1:20 and looked like he was just warming up. He did say he is a bit faster on ad08r. Out of the street tyres for motorsport it's still ad08r followed by RS4 ahead of the others and full track it's still a050/z221 at the top imo. -
Yeah, good call. I was going to say whatever you do make sure you don't use the htg GCU. Obviously you've heard and probably seen the same stuff I have. Hope it all goes well, that will be an awesome setup and make your car next level.

That's a bit of shit luck there. I like where you're going with the 8HP. What are you going to use to control it?

I had a similar issue with a new box after 1 track day. When I drained the oil, it told the story. Let's just say it glittered like gold. Im not sure exactly what went wrong as I didn't have it pulled apart as the nice chaps at Nissan where nice enough to replace it with another new one. Thank you Mr Nissan, I bow down to you. I'm assuming it was a broken/stripped synchro. It was still selecting and had drive in all gears but was making a whine noise. At first I thought it was a bad turbo bearing but then realised the noise went away when stepping on the clutch pedal. From memory I think the whine got quieter in 4th gear. Sounds very similar to what you're describing, hopefully not.
