ok boys ive decided now that ima get the car back on the road asap

Im taking bets on if i can get it ready for sandown (hopefully make some money to pay for it)

With the help from everyone here i recon its achievable

you watch me put down a crazy lap time when its back

screw the driver training its just like a go kart only 200km/h faster

hahah lap times don't come from power, you need grip, handling, and maybe some stopping :) But good on you for wanting to get back out there. you need to remember, the track will show up any weakness your car has, you may think you drive it hard on the street, but you'll drive it MUCH harder on the track than you ever will on the street. If you had of got a session or two yesterday you would of found out first hand. :P

He's young, he'll learn but yeah its good that he's keen for track.

2 timed laps.

That's all - on my 3rd flyer in the first timed practice, I Fv(KED the SH!T outta the 3rd/4th fork/selector/whatever, and had it Jam half in 3rd, half in neutral. Happened shifting on the right/left direction change outta MG. It's been playing up for a while (synchro's on 4th are cactus) and I guess it finally let go.

:P

1:53.9 isn't too bad though, with Bendix ultimates (not even bedded in yet on the front!) and 200rwkw. The DriftBox (loaned - thanks Monti!) said I was on a 1:53.5 when the 'box went, and I think there's at LEAST another second to be had once I learn how hard I can push on all the quick stuff. I think I was only doing 150-odd onto the front straight, with a ton of room & grip up my sleeve. Hmmm, guess my target of 1:57 on the entry form was a smidge conservative!!!!!

HOW GOOD is Hayshed and T1 ? ! ? ! I was braking at/just after the 2nd line on the track into T1, with HEAPS of room to spare, turning in at 170, realising I had HEAPS of room& grip, and punching out hard up to 185km/h before braking into Southern loop. BOOOYAAH ! ! ! My V.Max on Winton's main straight is 172km/h ! ! :)

At least I can drive (gingerly, in 1st, 2nd & 5th!) around 'til I have the coin to fix the box, it self-righted itself (with a BanG!) leaving a servo, on the way back. Oh - what happened to the Black R34(?) that stopped around 4pm at Siberia? I was flagging there for a while.

-Nathan.

p.s. My mate & I got a TONNE of pics - RAY! TUNE that Silvia MAN! (You'll see once the pic's up!) - I'll let Youse know when they're uploaded.

SHIT YEH!!!

This would have to be most fun I've had at a track day so far. PI alway seems to put on the weather for us and what a great track. The morning was a little slow but it was worth the wait.

To all of you who weren't there you really missed out.

Looking at the time everybody was doing. Crazy people!

Ferni 1.51. You'll have to slow down or I'll never catch you if you start gaining confidence in the car as quickly as Jack did a while back and look the times his doing now.

Bris- I might have to start calling you Mad Dog, the way your car wags its tail all over the track. Looks a little hairy to drive. I was waiting for you to loop in front of me but you alway pulled it back. Imagine if you did borrow my wing. There would have easy been a 1.50 flat in it with traction :). Reminded me of the old gtst around there. FUN!

BBGTR if only I knew I alway bring some spare clamps incase their needed.

1:53.9? In my books thats quick ! What tyres were you on? Were you the white R33 GTS25T :P

How hard do you drive the thing to be cooking the gearbox with 200rwkws :glare:

Yup - that's Me

I was on 2nd hand RE55s - Thanks to Craig at Trackside Race&Rally Tyres in Kilsyth.

I'm REALLY sympathetic to the gearbox 99.9% of the time, and the cogs themselves are FINE - it's the selector mechanism that's farked. I've been nursing gradually worsening synchro's on 4th for YONKS, which I REALLY damaged trying to quick-shift from 3rd-4th in the wet one night, to keep a drift going. (ummm, any cops reading this - it wasn't on public road . . . . :) )

Anyhoo! Which car were You in Roy? Hi to everyone I yakked to, I really enjoyed Myself (busted gearbox aside)

Nice times people, sounds like a lot of fun. I'll be down there next weekend with some other NSW SAU members for

the Nissan nats. Boosted Zed is taking slot car down for a run, so it will be interesting to see how JP does.

Are there any Vic members doing the Nats? :)

Are there any Vic members doing the Nats? :P

I now have $-100 to my name.

:glare:

So no, no 'Nats for Me ! !

Hehe - I just checked My morning "untimed" practice times - I hit my entry-form target of 1:57 flat on my Third EVER lap of the track ! ! ! :)

I'm SO going back with a fully-fit car ! ! ! (and properly bedded-in brakes!)

BBGTR if only I knew I alway bring some spare clamps incase their needed.

Thanks. I'm going to T-Bolt the whole f@$cking set-up. I hate $2 component failures with a passion, especially on days like that. Conditions didn't get any better.

Only 6 more PI's this year, check my track calendar and mark the days in your diary's boys.

Cheers

What's the deal with the MPC cars?

They all armed them self to the teeth, lexon window, fully cages...etc.

The deal is that they are fully prepped race cars, the kind that cost a lot of money and go really really really fast on a race track.... :P

Anyhoo! Which car were You in Roy? Hi to everyone I yakked to, I really enjoyed Myself (busted gearbox aside)

I was in the silver R32 a few cars down from you...between all the hand feeds and vid replays and self indulgence...i didnt get a chance to come and say hello

What an AWESOME day ;) Lol you couldn't wipe the smile off my face! Thought I went quicker in the last couple of sessions but seems I only did a best of 1:54. Not that I'm complaining compared to my gtst on streets this thing was 14 secs quicker and boy did it feel it :)

I big thanks to all the flaggies out there :(

PI did show that I really, really need a catch can :(

    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
