To fit the R34 GT-T seats I had to-

Remove all but the front inside mounting leg from the rails.

Swap the outside rear leg from one seat to the other.

Build up the outside front leg so that it was 25mm longer.

Bend the tabs on the 2 front mounting legs down to match the angle of the holes.

Adjust the position of the 2 rear legs by turning the holes, that I made when drilling out the rivets, into slots allowing for adjustment.

Bolt everything back together with button head hex key bolts because standard bolts wouldn't get in there.

The result is good, mounts are solid BUT if I didn't get the seats so cheap, or if they sold quickly, I wouldn't have bothered.

OK so another day & few more bit`s done,

REAR shock`s fitted Nismo,

made a Plate to raparound OIL & TRANS Filter`s out of Stainless Steel,

Also run Breather pipe from rad overflow bottle AS there isn`t one just hole on top,

also made few Duct gaurds to fit in cooler ducts & stop stone`s & other crap which dose damage cooler`s .

need to get front bar sparyed & looking like it should,

Just need to fit front bar & all undertray`s up & back on the ROAD AGIN :( ,

cheer`s Chuckie.

On the advice of scotty_nm35 Ive done a few small maintaince bits to my car today; namely spark plugs, and cleaning the AFM. I also did the O2 sensor (thus the thread) based on another friends suggestion.

All pretty straight foward, two of the spark plugs came out 'poorly', I had my mate do most of the work (hes actually a mechanic) but one of the plugs seemed to be getting tighter as it was coming out initially, to the point where he didnt want to take it out and we left it till last (We were going to leave it and get someone 'Dr Bolt' to remove it.. based on the fact that he figured it would either shread the thread of snap off half way out and it would need to be helicoiled.) but after one of the other plugs exhibited similar difficulties but to a slightly lesser degree and came out fine with no sign of wear on the thread we decided to give it a whirl, and it came out fine. My mates theory on why it was f**ked was that they'd previously been removed/reseated but not in all the way - and as a result there was carbon/crap build ups on the thread... well there was a little bit of 'crud' in the threads when they came up. Who knows.

One oddity, but maybe just my ignorance again, I appear to have two cats - one of them patently not stock; any thoughts on this? Is it likely to have been done in Aus to pass compliance or what?

The other thing was what looks to be some additional welds, I could be wrong and perhaps theyre factory spec, but they just look not quite neat enough for that? theyre on both sides at the back.. my lack of car knowledge inhibits me from using the correct term, but Im going to go with the chassis, in line with the where the springs sit :( Anyone seen that before? :s

You forgot to tell us how it goes now. :)

You have a decent second compliance cat fitted, I had 4 cats in mine when I got it, needless to say they didn't last long.

The weld looks like factory bracing, I will have a check next time I am under the car.

What were the plugs you pulled out like?

You forgot to tell us how it goes now. :ermm:

The car seems more responsive, and I cant help but feel I have more power under my foot.. which would infer the car has leaned out. But that could just be wishful thinking. Im getting an oil change done tomorrow, and a new oil filter (and fitting Jetwrecked's AR-X springs, which are due to arrive today) - so I'll fill up a full tank and see how the consumption fares before i make a definitive answer ;)

4? Absurd :)

What were the plugs you pulled out like?

In my mates opinion they looked 'old as shit' but not completely wrecked, same for the O2 sensor. I dropped them in the bin, but if theyre still on top I'll grab some photos.

Apparently my oil filter looks 'ancient' so thats why Im giving that a go too.

last night i removed the cheap shitty boost gauge that i fitted last week and fitted a decent one. what a surprise, my car is still running 9-10psi. oh well, at least i don't need to get a boost controller. although when it was nice and cold last nite i was getting an initial spike to 11 psi then it bled down to 8-9psi.

What were the plugs you pulled out like?

Most of the plugs were pretty similar to this one, some had a bit more blackness to the tip others had a bit less.. some had more crud on the thread, others had less

Yes Duncan & i got them for FREE ;):):):D;) ,

would like to try to make the backing plate use air better may have to find some & cut them about abit ,

would be great to see how much better it work`s ok Rotor`s & will try them out soon in hill`s give the old girl a work out ,

Cheer`s Chuckie.

Went and had a chat with my panel shop hopefully car is getting painted 2-3 weeks time, had mytwo front windows tinted and my new hdi d spec ebc got dropped off today, so I'll have something to do at work tonight. :(

Installed the 350Z brembos last night. Was suprisingly easy to fit.

The braided lines I ordered didnt fit, but the stock M35 lines worked perfectly - all I had to do was trim about 4-5mm off the Banjo bolts and they worked perfectly. The only other difference was the rear caliper bolts. Otherwise its all straight bolt on.

Took about 3hours for me and my brother to finish - we took it super slow and made sure everything was perfect and bled twice to ensure no air in the system.

The end results are great, initial bed in took about 15 min of medium braking and a few hard brakes as suggested on the brake pad box, after that there is already a lot more power than the standard calipers and im sure it will take a few kms before the pads truly bed in.

Really happy with the results, and considering the weight of the standard calipers, im sure I have shed some lbs in the process!

I will put some proper pics up in a separate post when I get some time. For now here is a quick phone shot!

Ben.

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
