Yeah but what car would feel awesome to them?

Might as well drive a shitbox.

See, now as I wrote my post, that thought crossed my mind...but the way I see it, you're never gonna match the F1 car, but given you have the means, why not get as close to it on the road as possible?

I read many years ago an interview with Ivan Capelli, then Fezza F1 driver.

His Ferrari sponsored road car was an F40, and when quized, he said while yes, it was "fast", it was in no way even remotely comparable to F1, and therefore not at all exciting.

We all know that, but I guess many less educated than us would think that a road Ferrari is fast in outright terms.

And whats with the Mark bashing? The bastard can drive.

A long time ago a bloke by the name of Phillippe Alliot was the test driver for McLaren when they were running Pug engines. Anyway there was a trumped up road car versus 2 litre touring car versus F1 article in Car mag. Asked what he thought of the road car (a Peugeot three oh something) he answered: any road car is a total disaster on a race track. Now that is quality PR.

Ivan Capelli was the man when he drove for March. But Ferrari screwed him over massively after making him drive what was up there with the worst Ferrari F1 cars of all time.

yeah it's entirely understandable to have zero to no interest in road cars when for 30 - 40 weeks a year all you are thinking about is driving your 7 speed, 800+hp, super duper F1 car. as they all pointed out no road car on the planet offers anything like the limits those guys are used to. anyone who can punt an F1 car hard can surely drive most anything pretty close to it's limit. and as the years have gone on the gap between road cars and F1 cars has surely widened a fair bit too.

Webbo can drive better than any of us ever will, to be sure. Only problem is He can't consistently driver better than the small gaggle of bloques that'll keep him from that elusive WDC.

hmmm... I would agree, but then remembered that you don't have to drive consistently better/faster than the other to win the WDC.

Just ask Jenson Button

No he can't, he's a hack choker who doesn't deserve to be there. None of us would be talking about him if he didn't come from Aus.

I'd need a back to back test in the GTR to be sure :P

I used to be in the same boat. I use to really like/rate Heidfeld and thought he would hand it to Mark when they were at Williams. But Marlk surprised me with just how fast he is. In my eyes he is as good as if not a tad batter Rosberg, Massa and Button. Not quite as good as Hamo, Alonso and Vettel.

Vettel cant race to save his life, but he is fast. Webber isnt far off his pace, typically less then a tenth in quali, and hey he did outqualify him 6 times and beat him a number of times.

So he does deserve to be there....and I used to like guys like Fisi until he got blown away by Alonso. Heidfeld but then he has not done anything alongside Webber or Kubica....so Webber has never been embarrassed by a team mate :)

    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
    • Yes then it will turn on but I want the car features to work
    • My thought is if you were just moving it forward and the upstream geometry remained the same, then no difference at all. But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?
    • What about if you just give it direct 12v and earth?
