Impressive power for an unopened motor. ...

Not sure if Royce has posted here, but he is running 730whp on his stock bottom end neo.

Or maybe it was 630. Either way, impressive.

The precise symptoms I was talking about. My 33, and a couple of other customers had the same issues after using motul. Not sure why.

What Nulon did you put in your 33? How long was it on the motul with ticking before you swapped over?

Sorry for all the questions!

He's now at 850hp on standard bottom end. Only has cams/springs/studs. Check post #1035 in rb25 turbo upgrade dyno thread.

  • 4 weeks later...

That dyno curve looks like a V8's, need's some early spiking on the controller

Was that in reference to my dyno ? When it gets retuned i will have the ebc in there that boost is just straight from the waste.

Reason i havent gorne higher boost is no studs or gasket but may look at setting it to spike upto say 20 and run 18 19 should also make 30 40 more uptop this time as got free flowing exhaust to go in

Problems with motul oil was almost instant in my R33, Which is why I thought there may have been an existing issue with the lifters, but then was told about the exact same issue with other 25's. Couldn't tell you how long I had the motul in there with the lifters.... but it wasn't long. New lifters in, and full flush and oil change, including oil cooler etc. Never had another issue.

Tuner didn't elaborate on the other 33's at his shop it'd happened too, just it was why he doesn't stock or use motul any longer.

R33 Gts-t series 2

mods: Highflow op6, 1000cc xspurt injectors, aero flow top feed rail, straight through 3" exhaust, z32 afm, nistune, big front mount, bosch 044 intank pump
fuel: Bp 98/United e85
power: 280kw/313kw @ 17psi with a leak in the intake plenum
oil: Penrite racing 10w/40
useage: Street weapon
lifespan: only 3 months so far, has had a hard life.
failure: Walbro 460lph e85 pump failed at 300kw, had to replace with the bosch 044.
comments: Feels good, will be going highmount, twin scroll hopefully soon. Running 21psi now, so should be up close to 340-350kw ish.

There was another issue with your setup if the Walbro 460L stopped, they are nearly bullet proof Ashley, and flow substantially more than the 044's.

Don't bother with the highmount, if you externally gate the turbo the stock manifold will flow 450 odd kw with better response. There is plenty more in your current setup by the looks.

I'm not sure how much mine is making but what about the 21u high flow?

I believe is only rated 30 hp less than op6...will ewg improve?

I can list my mods though if needed

Ps. U mean 450 odd hp and not kw right?

Less back pressure, more power so if you relieve as much back pressure as possible your motor aka air pump will flow more air thus producing more power.

Another reason why going a decent manifold and EWG will make more power however with some added lag OR same can be said about welding a gate on top the housing and ditching the IWG.

Wouldn't high mount be a good thing at that power level, if the tune is averaging EGT's and mixtures then having equal length runners should give a better safer tune for a stock bottom end?

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
