Its this stuff Scott.

Worth its weight and gold and saves a lot of time taking adhesive off body kits. It wont remove paint (it is not a paint stripper) but can hurt the duco if applied over and over again.

I in fact just purchased another one yesterday (a bigger can)

Thanks guys,

Its greatly appreciated.

It has been a lot of work so far and I still need to do more.

I'm actually waiting on MORE parts to arrive from Japan :woot: but getting at the tail end of performance parts (although coilovers is what I'm really keen on getting now)

Unfortunately my ECU (that little thing we need to tune the car's) is not due to arrive until later this month despite being paid in full  but I guess I need to be more patient.

I wanted to create a top quality build thread built on a realistic budget. But what I really wanted to demonstrate was how much work you can do on your own instead of paying someone else to do it for you (where's the fun in that  ?)

I love restoring things and restoring performance vehicles is my kind of thing (although I do not have the full knowledge to do it I will try).

Anyways, if I can do it you guys also can. Just takes dedication.

Gonna go now and pick my beautiful daughter then go home and crack a beer open

Alright,

Today I took the opportunity to paint considering the beautiful weather. So I was going to get my exhaust manifolds ceramic coated but I had some VHT flame proof spray paint in the garage so I thought I would use that.

It looks like this

IMG_1358_zps9e62f69e.jpg

You can get this stuff from Autobarn for about $16 (they did not have any stock so I had to go to Repco who sell for $8 more at $22 per can :woot: )

It is really great stuff and application from VHT cans are fantastic!!!

So I taped up the exhaust manifolds to prepare them to be coated in VHT Flame Proof (Aluminum in color)

This is how they used to look (one of the manifolds had previously being sprayed with something but I could not even take it off with paint stripper :verymad: )

and now look like this

IMG_1352_zpsb6398cda.jpg

I also managed to paint the rear pod which used to look like this after being sanded

but now look like

IMG_1357_zpscf232ab0.jpg

Not entirely finished with it though and will need to do give it final coat with some holts auto spray DSSB01

I also took the opportunity to spray one the exhaust heat shields

Unfortunately I do not have before photo on this computer, but I had to sanded it and then clean it with some prep wash get it nice and clean and smooth

I really like the color (not that anyone is going to see it)

That is it for now pilgrims . Peace out

I received this today,

IMG_1360_zps40da6b7f.jpg

The small box contained

IMG_1362_zps4a8ab287.jpg

more boxes :P

IMG_1363_zps0b1e5dba.jpg

IMG_1366_zpsb78dd320.jpg

HKS 1,000cc injectors (a.k.a Sard/Denso 1,000cc injectors)

the black box contains

IMG_1364_zps661893a3.jpg

Nismo 320km speed meter assembly - this is not the white face version as I actually prefer this one instead

Now for the big NISMO box

IMG_1367_zpsc519ed39.jpg

Brand new Nismo Intake Plenum - Sorry guys, I could not resist it for the price I was able to get it for. Must admit this was more of want then a need but I do hope it does give some king of performance

IMG_1370_zpsba33aa6f.jpg

Despite its size, it is very light (I forgot it is made out of alloy :turned: )

IMG_1374_zpsbffa1be2.jpg

IMG_1372_zpsa97ec155.jpg

Photo of inside the nismo plenum which gives a better idea what differences it may have vs the standard inlet plenum

Just a few more parts remaining i.e. Hi-flow cat and coilovers (interested in some Tein suspension)

After that, the car will be going to my Mechanic where he will have fun putting all this together (wished I had the skills and resources to do it myself :rofl2:)

very tasty mods mate !

Yeah, they are if they don't arrive damaged :verymad:

The NISMO 320km speedometer arrived with the plastic support snapped :verymad::yucky::verymad: Managed to correctly glue it back on but I'm too fussy with perfection on my build so its up for sale.

Thinking getting nismo white face ones now.

Anyways, I'm quiet thankful that it only happened to that part on any other more expensive performance parts.

    • For sure, bromance with common shit box interests.
    • People like Johnny Dose Bro might be laughing at my post because I accidentally added 100mm to my numbers. 350-355 is indeed the lower limit. 450 is off-road Skyline spec.
    • What is the "compromise" that you think will happen? Are you thinking that something will get damaged? The only things you have to be concerned about with spherical jointed suspension arms are; Arguments with the constabulary wrt their legality (they are likely to be illegal for road use without an engineering certificatation, and that may not be possible to obtain). A lot more NVH transmitted through to the passengers (which is hardly a concern for those with a preference for good handling, anyway). Greatly increased inspection and maintenance requirements (see above points, both).   It is extremely necessary to ask what car you are talking about. Your discussion on strut tops, for example, would be completely wrong for an R chassis, but be correct for an S chassis. R32s have specific problems that R33/4 do not have. Etc. I have hardened rubber bushes on upper rear control arms and traction rods. Adjustable length so as to be able to set both camber and bump steer. You cannot contemplate doing just the control arms and not the traction arms. And whatever bushing you have in one you should have in the other so that they have similar characteristics. Otherwise you can get increased oddness of behaviour as one bushing flexes and the other doesn't, changing the alignment between them. I have stock lower rear arms with urethane bushes. I may make changes here, these are are driven by the R32's geometry problems, so I won't discuss them here unless it proves necessary. I have spherical joints in the front caster rods. I have experienced absolutely no negatives and only positives from doing so. They are massively better than any other option. I have sphericals in the FUCAs, but this is driven largely by the (again) R32 specific problems with the motion of those arms. I just have to deal with the increased maintenance required. Given how much better the front end behaves with the sphericals in there.....I'd probably be tempted to go away from my preference (which is not to have sphericals on a road car, for 2 of the 3 reasons in the bulleted list above), just to gain those improvements. And so my preference for not using sphericals (in general) on a road car should be obvious. I use them judiciously, though, as required to solve particular problems.
    • Aren't we already on one? SAU unforgettable bromance.
    • Easiest way to know is to break out the multimeter and measure it when cold, then measure all the resistances again once it gets hot enough to misfire. Both the original ignitor and the J Replace version. Factory service manual will have the spec for the terminal measurements.
