Mark the position of the CAS and then take it off and spin it by hand. If you feel roughness (like a stuffed bearing) you have a problem. So has the tuner identified and turned off launch control? My car had a misfire on BCPR plugs and Soichi at ST Hitec got me to change then to BKR8EiX ...got mine from the US https://www.ebay.com/itm/6-NGK-IRIDIUM-IX-SPARK-PLUGS-2668-BKR8EIX-NEW-PERFORMANCE-UPGRADE/382197340706?epid=188018740&hash=item58fcbc9a22:g:5jIAAOSwnJZZlSNO:rk:15:pf:0 and that fixed it. May not be your problem though. Is your VCT functioning properly (maybe ask your tuner - who is tuning it by the way?).

Ask what it is there for. It may well be one of those pointless "mods" that people do without understanding or it may be an indication of excessive blow by. Do a compression test to check the rings.
-
Wow that's laggy all right. OK on the track with a close ratio gearbox but pretty useless otherwise. I would like some power from 3000 on...peaking at 4 - 5000 would be fine. What kind of ecu do you have and does it control boost as well?

A wrecker? Advertise in the parts wanted. Check the section for Stagea parts to see who is wrecking one.- 2 replies

Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0
KiwiRS4T replied to Piggaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
We have drift cars in NZ with three or four rotor engines making huge power with a good degree of reliability. It can be done. https://www.worldtimeattack.com/index.php/mad-mike-returns-in-the-quad-rotor-madbul-rx7/ -
Print it out from the manual on some heavy paper and glue it on (or get some paper with a peel off layer) and spray with clear lacquer.

The pursuit of decent power in my auto ?
KiwiRS4T replied to paulzy123's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
5 minutes on the dyno is worth a year or reading. I tried a succession of increasingly large sidemounts but had to give up and get a front mount. Get one of those digital thermometer guns and check the before and after temps on your intercooler pipes after doing three of four power runs (can do it on the road if necessary) - it won't take long before heat soak sets in. -
looks good! More pics! Any mods or a stocker?

If you are still on a side mount that will be holding you back. Don't know how you got the big number last time but you can get a fmic that doesn't require surgery or you could get a Blitz return flow front mount that uses the existing holes for the piping. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3cUGUWvP1g but yes do a compression test and report back!! -
Powersteering Rack Question R32 HCR32

Yes common on the track - need a better cooler in the system - stock is pretty rudimentary. -

The AFRs might have been ok a year ago but your fuel pump may be failing or filters clogging. This should show as AFRs leaning out. The pressure drop across the intercooler could have increased as well. 1 bar seems very conservative - does your tuner have any other ideas about what might be holding you back? If the tuner suspects an exhaust restriction usual plan would be to do a run with the exhaust disconnected and see if that helps. -
My C34 Stagea with a big turbo would do 15L/100 round town if pushed regularly or 12 taking it easy. On a trip at a steady 110 with the odd passing burst about 9L/100km At the track would empty the tank in minutes (only slight exaggeration).

Where are you getting these "at the fly" numbers? Do you take the engine out and put it on a bench dyno? What are the afrs doing... is it running out of fuel? Find a way to pressure test before and after the intercooler. What kind of turbo is it? Who built it? What is it supposed to be capable of? What kind of "free flowing" exhaust manifold do you have? What diameter is your exhaust (and does it narrow down to a 2 1/2 in muffler? Driving it gently isn't helping - give it heaps (when the road allows and it is at operating temps). Does your tuner have a good reputation (with the RB brigade or generally)? Really would expect some answers from him (or her). -
What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
KiwiRS4T replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Do you have a tuneable ecu or were no adjustments necessary? -
If you search you will find it is a relatively common problem with not just Stageas. When I bought my third Stagea it happened a lot. Try cleaning your battery terminals and clamps and maybe look at the solder on the back of the cluster for cracks. I just waved a heat gun over it and the problems went way but I am not really sure what the cause was.
-
And measure your fuel consumption in l/100km. Your gauge could be wrong...not even sure what 250km per tank means. If you are heavy footed and drive mostly in the city racing from light to light you could use a lot of gas.
-
Don't know about the R33 but if its like the Stagea there is a module in front of the handbrake sitting on top of the tunnel (under the cover)

Or RB30 block $200

Very nice. Wheels look ok too! Got a budget for mods or have you spent all your money buying the car and have to save up? -

There is a great rotary scene and lots of support here in NZ but get on-line and see what clubs etc are around your area (you don't say where you are). -
Only to your wallet.

Powersteering Rack Question R32 HCR32
KiwiRS4T replied to R324u's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Just go to a hose doctor like ENZED, Hydraulink or Pirtek or whoever you have in your town and they'll make you one.
