Just Me Venting.. Why Buy Non Turbo..

Recommended Posts

wow two pages ago i saw a young skyline enthusiast get smacked for her posts not being consistent and her know all approach since joining.

You say it like its a bad thing.

For sake of keyboard warriors and argument over who's right etc etc that member will probably lose interest in the forum and run off to some other place witha set attitude that the members of SAU are dickheads

I'd say that was a better reputation to get than the reputation of places like boostcruising, ns.com, etc where people say that you've got no f**king idea of what you're on about.

Then you just become the butt of every other automotive enthusiasts' joke. At least here they'll be saying, "They're pretty harsh on stupidity, but its where you go if you want the right answer".

Did you guys forget she's young? God i said some stupid shit in and out of dreaming about my ride in my younger days...

So did I.

But when more knowledgable and experienced people corrected me I didn't sit there arguing with them about it without any kind of evidence to their contrary, or at least some logical hypothesises based on scientific/engineering fundamentals.

While Miss R34 is out there representing the ladies and the skyline scene alike, polishing her pride n joy the very fact that she wants some respect for the N/A skyline was enough to overshadow her accomplishments

What accomplishments has she got that are worthy of respect? Respect freely given is worthless. It should be earned to carry any weight.

We are all part of the Skyline family, I mean..which parents treat there babies like crap?

Good parents should correct their children if they've got false pretences, and give them a good smack if gentle encouragement of the truth doesn't seem to be working.

Hey :)

I just bought a R33 GTS... and i am absolutely in love with it :D

But like ive herd off a couple of friends "Why even buy a skyline if its not turbo" not to my face of course..

Like they are commonwhore owners.. like vn's.. is it coz i dont fit in.. f**K! im sorry i dont have sagging doors like you guys. geesh.. ... im sorry my rb sounds decent.. i could go on and on..

But yeah i just had to be different and not get a holden liek everyone else.. hell i could have bought like 5 of them.. But ive love'd the shape of r33's for like 5 years now.. Best damn p-plater car ive seen. Like you holdens arnt v8's? or charged... so ha

So yeah, just me blowing steam... coz people cant say what they think to my face... :P Sour grapes i say..lol

You guys have common experiences? Show me some skyline love :)

Nick. :D

Insurance is the biggest killer for me I refuse to pay the massive premiums for having a turboed car, i know the quotes on potential V35

are high enough I'd hate to see what they'd be if they came in turbos

still doesn't compare to a 300zx twin turbo. It takes half an hour to put your hand in the engine bay then another half an hour to put tool in the hand then another hour to take 1 bolt of the 4 bolts off ........ yeah sucks

hahahah iv never seen a 300zx being worked on but it cant be that bad!

anyway back to the topic since I'm on my P's NA is all im driving and to all commodore fans there decent cars but don't compare when it comes to skyline (looks and power (in some cases) i prefer a tuner over a Holden not saying they are bad in fact my brother owns three Holdens (VN 5.0L V8 Manual, VY S-Pack, VQ Statesman Series II) there great cars but there to common and don't look as good as the skyline.

you've obviously never seen the engine bay of a z32 then, LOL.

so he may have exagerated a bit on the time thing. if you have one of those magnetic tool things they it is only about 20 mins to get the tool into your hand. but without it, if you drop a tool, don't expect to see it again. you will just be driving along, hear a bit of a ting and know that your tool just fell out and will have bounced off the road and into the grass on the side of the road.

You'd better have the hands of a small child and the finger grip of a chronic masturbator if you don't want to lift the engine out to do even the most minor things.

and have a rope tied to ANY tool you even place near the engine bay, and magnetise any screwdriver or socket you use with the strongest magnet you can find to minimise the loss of nuts and bolts.

abd as well as small yet strong hands, don't forget being quadrouple jointed. basically the ability to be able to lay your fingers flat on the back of your hand, LOL

Yep, as much as I love the Z32's and I almost bought one years ago. The only thing that put me off was the engine bay. I took one good look, imagined how ( if ) I would be able to do simple basic work ie plugs, belts ,filters etc....and thought No way...impossible... god knows how you would go about changing sparkplugs, Pull the inlet manifolds off maybe ?

    • This morning I carefully reinstalled the manifold and started looking at a couple of things I need to do.  Heat wrap arrived sometime today so I popped into the shed with the missus dishwashing gloves and started wrapping the first half of the dump and the screamer/plumb back.  Once I do the second half I'll be able to final fit the turbo and exhaust up.  Also pulled the harness out today and started terminating it at the ECU end. A connector is done, just need to run the remaining wires that arent in the harness - 12v, gnd and couple I/O
    • A31 is pretty much the same thing without HiAIDS I mean CAS, no improvement lol. Not to late to send it.
    • Thanks for all the replies! I also wanted to ask if wheels that were fitted on Ford Falcons would fit the 350GTs as well? In the area I'm at there aren't that many options for secondhand wheels and new ones here are way out of my budget. From what I've seen, most of the wheels that are available that were fitted on Ford Falcons have an offset of +33 to +36, with a centre bore of 70.5mm whereas the stock 350GT's ones are 66mm, can't seem to find any hubcentric rings that fit that difference though.
    • 215/45/18 tyres are probably a little on the low side compared to the factory tyre, it should be closer to a 245/45/19, which will get you about an extra 11mm of height, and should make you speedo read a bit closer to reality. 245/45/19s will be a bit too far the other way and you risk a speeding ticket as your speedo might read slower than your actual speed.  245/40/19s would be correct if you are going to 19in rims, they will give you a similar total diameter to the 245/45/18 tyres.
    • That's something I forgot to put in my list. The aggressive anti-squat in R32 is a f**king menace. I still need to decide if I'm going to drag the subframe out of my car and weld in the GKTech corrector kit. The main reason to dither is the need to switch to spherical joints in the lower arm to account for the twist induced in the rear pivot caused by lowering the front pivot. And yes...we do put better subframes in R32s, and I wish I'd gotten an S14 one instead of an A31 when I did the "take off and nuke it from orbit" HICAS delete all those years ago.
