Hi guys i know this is probably pushing it but i have to ask

Is there such a thing as a quiet 3 inch exhaust for a R33 GTS~t.

If so does anybody have Db test something close .

other wise i may have to do a stealth system like pic....

Good quality round centre muffler and oval rear muffler can be within legal limits.

my 3" inch system is legal, quiet and not restrictive.

3.5" dump, 3" 100cel cat, 2x 3" straight-through mufflers, dump tip. All stainless, all magnaflow.

not a skyline, but turbo cars are generally same-same.

At 100km/h the engine/turbo noise and general tyre/road noise kills any quiet time you might get anyway!!! Well it does in mine. If I want to drive and listen to music the volume knob gets a work out!!!

Once you get 2x mufflers & a resonator to remove the "bark" from the exhaust it's pretty quiet.... the tyre/road noise is the loudest thing in my car at cruise.

On the loud pedal there's "some" noise but you can still hold a full conversation without raising your voice.

if yr interested, my super super quiet 3" exhaust from my 33 GTR will be coming off soon (i'm actually annoyed that it is too quiet and going to a 3.5" varex).

i think they are interchangable with gtst's..... if so you could buy that one from me :)

Yep

I run a 3.5" system and I can tell you it's quieter than 90% of the skylines out there....

3.5" dump -> 3.5" cat -> 3.5" mid muffler -> 3.5" resonator -> 3.5" muffler

What brand of mufflers you using?, got any part numbers?

Id like to build a 3.5 inch exhaust, but my mates ones are super drony even with 2 big mufflers and a lot of 3.5 inch mufflers are only 3 inch internally so im sorta put off atm

was just going to go 3.5 inch to just before diff and go back to 3 inch and use muffflers i have used before that dont drone like crazy

cheers

the mid muffler is a basic hurricane round 3.5" muffler, the resonator has been cut off same cat back (HKS Priest) and the sides trimmed till the pipe work became 3.5" the rear muffler is a massive HKS Priest muffler which isn't really 3.5" more like 3.25" but good enough.

Funny enough, when the gate cracks the exhaust gets even quieter.. (it's plumbed back after the cat) like so (old pic, all the shit is wrapped up and also the wiring has been cleaned up):

My soarer is loud as f**k with its 3.5" system

Has a big hooker aerochamber at the back and a custom mid muffler (its small cause f**k all room with a 3.5" pipe)

What mufflers are you guys using on the quieter systems?

    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.
    • Hi all,   long time listener, first time caller   i was wondering if anyone can help me identify a transistor on the climate control unit board that decided to fry itself   I've circled it in the attached photo   any help would be appreciated
    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
