Extracted max power then, just surprised a 2860 could provide the flow.

How are the IATs?

Surprisingly mid to high 40s only. I didn't export the logs this time for the S15, was only a quick 1 hour tune to full send :)

As a doctor @dr phil you would be very familiar with data and facts haha.

Not like this Paleo Pete Evans ?

I'll pull some logs off the car at Wakefield, be good to see how my oil pressure, fuel pressure, oil and fuel temps behave on the track. There's a 6.5L baffled ASR sump in there too.

Picked up this blob, actually lighter than the HDi dim sum bok choy cooler.

I opted for stealth black with no logo so I can tell people in public it's a black eBay 76mm IC ?

Also in the odd event where it's parked somewhere out of my view it doesn't attract any attention because the entire car looks like a clapped out shit box.

It is such a nice piece of kit

Mine lasted one trip out and some arsehead kicked it with a steelcap boot and put a dent in it.

Now painted black and hidden behind factory mesh.

The only people that would know what a Plazmaman cooler is are enthusiasts... but if your an enthusiast, how could you bring yourself to do that... F*King can't believe it =/

i doubt it's Plazmaman specific vandalism, more likely a bogan jealous of a shiny modified car he can't afford due to his ciggie and VB habit

@Dose Pipe Sutututu Is that the plazmaman piping kit you're running too?

Correct, but has been slightly modded on the hot side to suit the high mount.

Cold side was cut and slightly shortened to fit the existing hole made by the previous owner for the bing bong HDi FMIC.

@Robzilla32 what the actual fuark?

Some people need to be put down, what a flog. Sorry it happened to you mate.

Yeah, it sucked all right. Was away for a trip with the Mrs. Saw it happen while I was in a convenience store or 7/11 or whatever. Came out to challenge the guy but he pissed off. Don't know what I would have realistically achieved - probably got my head punched in. Was worried about it leaking but it was fine.

Probably as per the comment from @GTofuS-T below....saying this as I knock back the red wines

Don't trust tow truck drivers to look after your expensive intercoolers either. Had a customers car get picked up from our workshop, towie winched off the crossmember rather than the tow strap hanging out the front, caved the bottom of the Plazmaman intercooler in. Took out the brand new custom piping as well, and because it was using Plazmaclamps it was a total disaster.

The Pro Series coolers are strong pieces of gear though, definitely proper. Still worked no problem with the dent at 800hp.

I did the same for the 34, pro series 76mm, raw finish, no plazmaman badging/stencil, nothing. It had laser etched serial and details in one spot that you couldn't see unless it was removed.

100% stealth, looked just like factory.

damn, think i'm running the same setup, but really like the J-pipe delete and room for factory snorkel with the Plazmaman style

Did the car survive the weekend?

Sure did, however it did trip the engine protection a few times around big g corners on power (back straight of Wakefield).

Oil pressure dropped under 2bar a few times around big corners on boost. As @Dale FZ1 pointed out big power, big boost = elevated crank case pressure. I did notice each time it cut the car would spew considerable amounts of oil into the catch. It seems the oil cannot be evacuated back into the sump due to the positive pressure.

On main straights, no issues - this means having a head drain won't really solve my problem (also clocked 192km/h+ a few times, it moves). So yeah, motor out ? to weld on a sump fitting and connect it up to my catch can also gives me a chance to correct my shitty job at sealing the sump on the motor as it was weeping haha.

Managed a slower time of 1m11.5s due to being rusty, different tyre setup and too much power LOL.

  • Thanks 4
  • Haha 1

Spewin you didnt get the 1.10 you were after.

I have the same issue with my can, accept mine vents to atmo so decided to spew it out the vent all over the engine bay. That was fun to clean up.

So Im going to have to do some more mods on the oil side of things as well.
Head Drain to sump, closed can to sump, oil restriction in head etc.
Plus on top of that the dorian timer they gave me had flat batteries so no lap times recorded for me :(
will have to work out lap times of the gopro lol

@Jasoncauser great putting a face to a name!

Time for an Android phone ?

I use Race Chrono purely for speed timing and live lap timing in car, gives you data so you're able to improve each lap.

purely for bragging rights, clocked 192km/h down the main straight haha

Also use Racechrono with 10hz GPS, always within .1 of official timing and I love the sector splits in car and live deltas so you know if you should keep pushing or back off and abort the lap.

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
