Clutch upgrade

Hi all

i am deciding on my clutch to support my max 500 bhp at flywheel.

i have seen numorous brands, what brand will you pick or well known?

would you also install a lighted flywheel?

i have seens clutches from stage 2 to 4.

is there any harm in installing stage 4 if I don't need it?

i think stage 4 is 500 bhp and above

finally would you have a go yourself to replace it? Is it a tough job if you are one man ?

i was thinking i could get a transmission support

This isn't need for speed, ignore the whole stage 1,2,3 crap

Call NPC Performance clutches. Aus made (use some exedy stuff) and do a good product. I have their lightned flywheel and 10" sprung button clutch in my car, had it for years and has always been great, pedal feels resonably light

They also do a twin plate if you want to go all out

Please Google first and then post here if you still need more help. Usually Google will point you to a number of SAU posts as most subjects have been exhaustively discussed over the years...e.g.

which clutch for modified Skyline

or...what clutch for 300kw RB

or.. how to replace clutch on Skyline R34

etc

also scroll down to

Tutorials / DIY / FAQ  and see what help is available there.

Warning: doing a clutch by yourself can be dangerous so read all the instruction carefully so you don't get pinned by the car or have a gearbox fall on you !

I looked at exedy and extreme but again some dealers sell it with stages attached hence why i asked

Nobody who knows anything about clutches uses the word "stage".  Same with cams.  The only thing that comes in stages is the mail in the wild west, 175 years ago.  Oh, and nitrous.

Sorry to jump in this topic like this. Does anyone know what power rating a nismo 30210-RSR40 clutch kit is rated for rb25. Maybe this would also be good for his application. I have one sitting here but have no idea what power it can handle.

From GTR UK:

Standard Nissan cover produces 900 KgF Clamp force
Nismo 30210 RSR40 produces 1050 KgF
Nismo 30210 RS581 produces 1200 KgF

    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG is has not responded to my emails so far after purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
