Designing an Entry Turbo kit for v36 @450HP
KiwiRS4T replied to mybrains's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Your link doesn't tell us anything about the TT set up. No-one doubts that a good TT system will produce good performance - the challenge is getting it in the space available and for a competitive price. The supercharger option already is not cheap - how much is the TT option and do you have any pics? -
Best Plenum for heavily ported Rb26
KiwiRS4T replied to ChakGTR's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
If I were building such an engine now I would get something from RIPS Racing: https://www.ripsracing.com/catalog/Plenims-42/RB26-Plenum-Kit-16.html -
V36 Skyline - Mass Air Flow Sensor
KiwiRS4T replied to Amokk.7525's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
What for? Measure actual use in litres per 100 km and report what kind of driving you do -short city runs -city and bursts on a motorway - country cruising... Also check your tyre pressures and if you have a few km on check or replace your plugs. -
Designing an Entry Turbo kit for v36 @450HP
KiwiRS4T replied to mybrains's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
The Stillen kit is a proven unit and produces about 300 - 320 kw so no built engine required. It is apparently a relatively easy job to do at home and all you would need on top is probably a better clutch. It comes with a standard map or a tuneable chip (probably better) so if the latter budget for a tune. -
For best results install an aftermarket stereo with blue tooth capability.

Who is going to tune it if you can get it to work at all? -
I am new, need help about Apexi FC for RB20DET
KiwiRS4T replied to DAG_garage's topic in Introduce yourself
Hi are you modifying the RB20DET? If not you need to get an original ECU (available from Ebay AU or TradeMe NZ or if you have the contacts from Japan. Sell the Apexi FC If you are going to modify the engine you will need a Nistune chip or stand alone ECU so if it can't be tuned where you are then you will have to forget the mods for now. -
If your car has a "snow" or "cold" pack you may find wing mirror heaters come on when you turn on the heated rear screen.
-
Just post in one place - it makes it easier. As before third from left will be front screen element for freeing iced up wipers. The extreme left may be heated mirrors - try it out one frosty morning.
-
Haven't got an 02 Stag but third from right looks like front screen heater - as in element embedded in bottom of screen (for freeing the wipers when they are frozen).
-
Odds are engine will have to come out but if you pull the head off most likely all will be revealed.

Go to the section called Wagoneers

BTW since you posed the question at the beginning have a look at this: http://www.goodezilla.com/rb26dett-skyline-gtr-single-turbo-vs-twin-turbo
-
You could be right - complete rebuild but hard to guess without seeing it. Best bet is to post up your town and ask for recommendations for a workshop with a good knowledge of RB engines. Take it there for an assessment and some price options. If possible take it to another shop as well. If you are lucky a local member may be able to come and have a look. Did you check the oil level afterwards? BTW you may find a second hand engine quicker and cheaper than a rebuild

After rebuild RB25DET Neo, 4Bar and small oil leak
KiwiRS4T replied to ifixedit's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
My RB30 was first started and the main break in done on the dyno c/w full power pulls. Then dump oil and put in another lot of mineral oil and driven for 6,000km. Then the synthetic oil and another tune. You don't want even semi synthetic oil because it prevents the rings from bedding in. If you pull your engine down see if the bores look glazed. You need to put pressure on the rings so with a hot engine don't be afraid to rev it. Do not labour it and keep an eye on the water temp and oil pressure and check for leaks. This has been best practice for at least 50 years. -
Stock RB25DET Intake manifold on R32 RB25DE

Just google " +T conversion on R32" or similar. Lots have been done (but not by me). -
RB25DET Neo crank question
KiwiRS4T replied to r33evosho's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
If it came from a Neo it doesn't need a crank collar. If you do want a crank collar both ones linked are the same item - only the price is different. I would recommend this one: https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/nissan/engines/listing-2160188071.htm?rsqid=fb9595f33eb64503bea835420fbdb266-001 -
The answer to the first question is single is better but as above it will cost a bit. Are you sure you will be happy with 200 - 300awkw? If in doubt go the single now.

After rebuild RB25DET Neo, 4Bar and small oil leak
KiwiRS4T replied to ifixedit's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Two things - you should run in a new engine with mineral oil not synthetic - you should be pushing it from the get go - babying it will mean rings don't bed in properly and it will burn excessiveamounts of oil. If you are pulling it down again put your stone down the bore and try to create a cross hatch again. -
Building RB20DET for boost
KiwiRS4T replied to JankityJenkins's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hi you crazy wild rebel you. There are some highly strung RB20s around. For your 40 psi screamer you will want a custom exhaust manifold and a huge exhaust to suit. And as I always say its all in the tune so get a Link Ecu or such like and find a really good tuner! -
RB25DET standard manifold/external wastegate.
KiwiRS4T replied to R33JDS's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Well it all depends on your turbo - if you have the OEM stocker then you won't need an external wastegate and you can just blank it off against the day that you upgrade your turbo - but if you are never going to do that you could probably swap it with someone who needs it now. -

Thermo Fan Activation On RB25DET NEO

I'd run them a bit hotter otherwise they will be on virtually full time.
