goes to show most forum warriors have no idea what theyre talking about....f**k twins & f**k not polishing the ports. NAPREC know what theyre doing when it comes to getting big numbers out of heads my NAPREC prepped SR head has tolerances to within 1 thou....fkn precise. my engine builder said its some of the best machining he has ever come across....and he's built plenty of 1000hp+ drag motors.

R34 Gtr Build
BakemonoRicer replied to JEM Dyno's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
judging by the videos the thing isn't even making 500kw nor does it sound exciting either. at the end of the day the thing was overhyped and underdelivered, that's why dyno sheets aren't being posted EFR turbo, 6boost, & VCAM would of delivered a better package than a fancy manifold that doesn't work in the real world. -
R32 GTR Drag Cylinder Head
BakemonoRicer replied to Dc 32-gtr's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
mate, after getting in touch with the owner of NAPREC and exchanging about 30 emails... .ive just sent a head off to NAPREC in japan which arrived to them the other day. what i'm getting is JAPANESE precision...you cant get that in australia. the head getting ported & polished to within an inch of its life to bring out the goodness in the +1mm BIG valves.... and the squish is also getting thrown out the door in favour of the legendary hemi chamber no need for squish when aiming for brute power with no concern for emissions : ) also, you'll want to change the valve seats for 1000ps+ food for thought. -
Is this car still alive?

Bump, interested to hear other peoples thoughts I'll be taking out both quench pads on my SR head

Skyline GTR vs FD3S RX7 R32/R33/R34 GTR vs FD3S RX7 I am in the process of searching Japan for a 33 GTR, though the thought has crossed my mind as to whether to go for a Series 8 RX7. Speaking to plenty of friends within the import scene, a lot of them seem to think dollar for dollar the RX7 is the pick of the bunch....as its lighter, handles like a go-kart & straight out of the box will generally leave a GTR for dead. Who has driven both and which do you prefer, and why....

Leroy, compression drops by .2 once the pads are taken out, with the 1.2mm tomei headgasket i'll retain standard 8.5:1 compression ratio. Still using the S15 head mate, just taking out squish pads like a GTIR head is all I'm saying : ) It's fairly common with the high hp RB builds to take out either one or both squish pads. Piggaz has done this, so did Elrodeo666 from memory.

Leroy - yes oversized valves will be getting installed (+1mm). The combustion chamber in the GTIR head doesnt have squish/quench pads, making the head a lot more detonation resistant than S13/14/15 SR heads. Seeing as the heads getting shipped to Japan, I may as well future proof it for man boost. Below on the right is an SR chamber with the squish pads removed.
-
Head currently being disassembled and getting packed for overseas shipping soon. Have been in talks with a few big machine shops in JPN and now one of them will be doing the work - porting & polishing the head to their specs & doing the machining for the big valves & hemi chamber (e.g. no squish pads)

R32 Gtr Build In Usa
BakemonoRicer replied to HarrisRacing's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Would avoid solid mounts, I had solid poly mounts and the NVH was literally unbearable. Changed to nismo and they are very nice, people complain about Nismo NVH but its nothing compared to solid man -

R33 Gtr Prices -price Projections?
BakemonoRicer replied to GTR-N1's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
the top secret r33 gtr actually got sent to the UK after its stint in Japan... this is the one which did the famous 330km/h Wangan run.... it's since been refreshed with further headwork & different turbo setup... http://www.speedhunters.com/2010/03/car_feature_gt_gt_meeting_a_legend_the_drag_r_ii_skyline_r33_top_secret/ the one in Australia, well - it was passed off as the famous version but it was not. the real top secret gtr has never been in Aus -
Ended up going with the JUN valve guides as Naprec didn't get back to me....they're getting shipped out tomorrow so I think best case scenario is they'll be here Tuesday. Not too keen on the BC stuff, just comes down to personal preference really man. Plus, I'd rather stick with the stronger & slightly heavier OEM retainers.

Johnny - im running an R33 GTR relief valve to avoid that problem. After a lot of thought I decided it's best to take the head off & stuff it full of the good stuff. Car will be getting floated to the engine builder this weekend. ....will leave bottom end stock for now unless it looks in bad shape when the motor gets torn down. Going big valve so head will be ported & polished to within an inch of its life, and ill be getting rid of the squish pads for hemi chamber . Spec is: Tomei Poncams - 256 deg, 11.5mm lift Tomei +1mm oversize valves Tomei Type A Valve Springs Tomei Rocker Arm Stoppers JUN or Naprec Valve Guides (desperately chasing the valve guides as they're the only thing I don't have yet....) ARP Head Studs Tomei 1.2mm Metal Headgasket Valve spring sheets Brand New OEM Valve Spring Collets, Cam Washers, Retainers, Rocker Guides, Valve Stem Seals, Valve Seats Rev Limit will be 7500rpm for now as I'd like to get a decent life out of the head....will keep everyone posted
