That's an example of the defectable setup (what not to have)... how i miss external gate from years ago... that EPA cost me a lot of money lol :P

noisy, big turbo (although you cant see it), and loud exhausts

This is the current one. The RB26 is registered and legal in my chassis, that's all i've said.

gallery_709_1130_69002.jpg

That setup made 280rwkw. Factory ECU, Factory Injectors etc etc etc etc. Not bad to poke around in

You are not the victims, the victim was the 6 year old, that was mowed down in Morwell.

"Drifting", is what some may call it, utter stupidity is what we call it. I know it was a Commodore, but these are the types of idiots, who get behind these types of cars.

i would love to see a six year old boy at a factory area, at night time , walking the streets just so u can prove your point.

I know what you are saying but i disagree. The point is putting a stop to people misbehaving on the roads (Regardless of industrial areas or not).

Let's hypothetically imagine that the commodore driver that killed the kid was caught 1 month prior 'drifting' in an industrial area. It is quite possible that being caught in that situation may have adjusted his behaviour enough to stop him from being silly on the streets.

Similarly by setting a precedent that all silly behaviour is unacceptable, people are less likely to offend.

As the old saying goes 'Once bitten, twice shy'

That's my thought anyway

theres a reason you get this us vs them mentality, even away from imports, when i got poled by asians with tire irons my mum went to the station the next day and made me go there, i had 17 stitches in my head, i gave all the names, around bout where they live and everything and the cops didnt even call the witnesses or anything....and he never called back and when my mum called he said ohh we are on it, f**king shit talking bitch

and then the first week i got my license, i was cruising around with friends in my mums camry, driving behind a green p's full of bogans in a VS with a southern cross sticker, he turned in to a street and i did too, there was a cop car at the lights saw me (being wog and having my other wog friend in the front seat) and did a u-turn through a red light, and then of coursed pulled me over and use the line "ohh someone called 000 to stay you were driving like a drunk driver", then breathe tested me, then when i asked who called? she was like ohh i will keep this information to myself, and then she started being a smart ass saying ohh im going to ask this person if they would like to press charges against you so we can take your license away

and finally there was another time, my friend was driving his mums van, and we parked at the factories to kick back for a bit cos we were waiting for someone, and cops came, and drug searched the van, he called me dodgy for having one of those pocket torches from a servo, and he then called us boring teenagers for not having any drugs on us, saying "ohh im very dissapointed in you guys, i was expecting some extacy or chooof"

so at the end of the day, if cops treat people like shit then dont complain when people treat you the same way back

Damn man sorry to hear they never got those guys that poled u. Another fine example of the shit cops need to be concentrating on instead of making up bullshit reasons to harass us, especially ethnics.

That 80km fella claims that pilling people over and issuing defects is not a biased activity yet all the bogans flogging it around in their holdens, drink driving n throwing bottles at cars n starting fights almost always get away or just cop a slap on the wrist while we do nothing n cop the ass end

Coz we're easy targets. They catch us as "offenders" even if we haven't done anything and slap us with defects. Cases which need to be "followed up" or "investigated" isn't always something that's going to happen coz they know they probably won't catch the offender(s) anyway and so don't bother...

I'd hate to think that really is the case but it's hard not to think it...

as long as they fill their books for the day.. and obviously its easier to book defects n stuff rather then assault and drink driving and shit

so ey... we making their job easier who cares about safety of others true?

Look, no one here is complaining about people getting fined for doing stupid things in a car like speeding or drifting. No one has said that kind of behaviour isn't deserving of punishment. Everyone who's had a whinge in this thread has complained about incidence of being pulled over and shown a lack of respect combined with unnecessarily strict and bureaucratic enforcement of the law. What we are complaining about is constant harassment and over-the-top scrutiny of vehicles when all things right we're obeying the road rules and not bringing harm to anyone.

Take a look at this thread for example; it's full of import drivers with no doubt defectable vehicles, yet they are the overwhelming majority criticising someone for driving like an idiot: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Hi...ng-t300948.html

That's what else I was wondering...do cops (TMU's, especially) have any kind of quotas to meet for the day/week (whatever the case may be) ? Coz it damn sure feels like it...and it wouldn't be hard to meet either, the way they continually pull everyone over...

Might i add a few things,

To officer 80kmph and all other police reading the thread : Use some of that "revenue" and open some more places for us "idiots" to be "idiots" in.

I'm not being a ass but just going by the terms you refer to us as, even the ones that are purely enthusiasts.

I was an idiot and decided to speed... pulled over "BE POLITE AND ULL ONLY COP WHAT WHAT YOU DESERVED" and was generally polite told the officer what i was doing speeding and that it was just stupid (not in them words) the officer understood that i was being young n dum although i copt a 12 month suspension 8 demerits $550 fine.. he said that he wont impound and take me to court which i thought was great and thanked the officer, he then told me to please grow up n learn from my mistakes which i wore nicely.

simply if ur gona be a dickhead like me dont f**king complain, pardon my french

ware it like every1 else does and dont take it out on the officers they are merely doing their job to keep you(and me) idiots alive.

on another note a friend of mine decided to take a u-bob a little sideways yeh saw the cop coming on the other side to the u-bob to get him, knew he was f*ked but saw the copper take the u-bob sideways aswell Lmao!!!

officer gets to the window saw u having a little fun on that u-bob? Mate replies You dident mind having fun too did ya officer? by the end of it he was let off after having a casual convo with the officer and ended up in his good books (little chit chat with politeness DOES HELP!)

and thats all i gota say lol

I think some of you are misinformed as to what the police do. They are the frontline who receive orders from above - preaching to them individually about revenue raising or building racetracks is a massive moot point given they don't control either. They don't issue their own orders and quotas.

thanks for the pics/info nismoid

i rkn they have quota's theyd never admit it though just like parking inspectors.

im not sure about some of the racism being reported (im aussie) but i have copped the same trouble you guys are mentioning..

as for holdens they to get their share of defects i see it just not as regularly as imports but as said above we dont exactly make it hard for them.. whos idea was it to have 4 round tail lights ? maybe we should do some custom camry rear end coversions probaly get left alone then :P

that quote is rubbish he was drink driving. i dont drink period perhaps if cops werent so busy defecting someone for been too low or too loud you might have caught that muppet instead but catching real criminals doesnt generate revenue infact it costs more money to then prosecute..

+1 ^^^ just generalising mate

'v8tzr' Please explain how it is just generalizing, If you want the tax money directed somewhere, or particular issues targeted, contact the relevant MP's with a well written letter and see how you go. Make good, strong points, evidence to support your points and see how you go. Attach a hand signed petition with it and see if it goes further. Don't start off with" The Police target us...", If you don't give them ammo, they won't use it.

Anyone in a front-line role will have their bad moments, they will be frustrated, They might of just attended a fatal car crash, then seen you do the same thing that caused the last one, and is annoyed that you just don't get it? So what if 1% of the time you have a bad experience, we all have a bad day every now and then. Police have to have to deal with the dickhead factor in the same way Call Centre or any other front line roll does, now think about how much shit you gave that telco person when you wanted something changed? The police cop some people with bad attitudes too. Think about the drunk guy harassing the bar chick you might see when you are out, then imagine being the one having to deal with that kind of attitude when you pull them over for drink driving(the mentality of the drunk dickheads), and they are in the wrong... Follow?

BTW, I don't mean anything demeaning with my analogies, just trying to put it into a perspective that might help people THINK about the amount of crap the police put up with, so if you get someone on a bad day, give them a break, don't just whinge, as you get people on a bad day anywhere, in any front-line contact in an organization.

Just my views....

    • Well, that's kinda the point. The calipers might interfere with the inside of the barrels 16" rims are only about 14" inside the barrels, which is ~350mm, and 334mm rotors only leave about 8mm outboard for the caliper before you get to 350, And.... that;s not gunna be enough. If the rims have a larger ID than that, you might sneak it in. I'd be putting a measuring stick inside the wheel and eyeballing the extra required for the caliper outboard of the rotor before committing to bolting it all on.
    • OK, so again it has been a bit of a break but it was around researching what had been done since I didn't have access to Neil's records and not everything is obvious without pulling stuff apart. Happily the guy who assembled the engine had kept reasonable records, so we now know the final spec is: Bottom end: Standard block and crank Ross 86.5mm forgies, 9:1 compression Spool forged rods Standard main bolts Oil pump Spool billet gears in standard housing Aeroflow extended and baffled sump Head Freshly rebuilt standard head with new 80lb valve springs Mild porting/port match Head oil feed restrictor VCT disabled Tighe 805C reground cams (255 duration, 8.93 lift)  Adjustable cam gears on inlet/exhaust Standard head bolts, gasket not confirmed but assumed MLS External 555cc Nismo injectors Z32 AFM Bosch 023 Intank fuel pump Garret 2871 (factory housings and manifold) Hypertune FFP plenum with standard throttle   Time to book in a trip to Unigroup
    • I forgot about my shiny new plates!
    • Well, apparently they do fit, however this wont be a problem if not because the car will be stationary while i do the suspension work. I was just going to use the 16's to roll the old girl around if I needed to. I just need to get the E90 back on the road first. Yes! I'm a believer! 🙌 So, I contacted them because the site kinda sucks and I was really confused about what I'd need. They put together a package for me and because I was spraying all the seat surfaces and not doing spot fixes I decided not to send them a headrest to colour match, I just used their colour on file (and it was spot on).  I got some heavy duty cleaner, 1L of colour, a small bottle of dye hardener and a small bottle of the dye top coat. I also got a spray gun as I needed a larger nozzle than the gun I had and it was only $40 extra. From memory the total was ~$450 ish. Its not cheap but the result is awesome. They did add repair bits and pieces to the quote originally and the cost came down significantly when I said I didn't need any repair products. I did it over a weekend. The only issues I had were my own; I forgot to mix the hardener into the dye two coats but I had enough dye for 2 more coats with the hardener. I also just used up all the dye because why not and i rushed the last coat which gave me some runs. Thankfully the runs are under the headrests. The gun pattern wasn't great, very round and would have been better if it was a line. It made it a little tricky to get consistent coverage and I think having done the extra coats probably helped conceal any coverage issues. I contacted them again a few months later so I could get our X5 done (who the f**k thought white leather was a good idea for a family car?!) and they said they had some training to do in Sydney and I could get a reduced rate on the leather fix in the X5 if I let them demo their product on our car. So I agreed. When I took Bec in the E39 to pick it up, I showed them the job I'd done in my car and they were all (students included) really impressed. Note that they said the runs I created could be fixed easily at the time with a brush or an air compressor gun. So, now with the two cars done I can absolutely recommend Colourlock.  I'll take pics of both interiors and create a new thread.
    • Power is fed to the ECU when the ignition switch is switched to IGN, at terminal 58. That same wire also connects to the ECCS relay to provide both the coil power and the contact side. When the ECU sees power at 58 it switches 16 to earth, which pulls the ECCS relay on, which feeds main power into the ECU and also to a bunch of other things. None of this is directly involved in the fuel pump - it just has to happen first. The ECU will pull terminal 18 to earth when it wants the fuel pump to run. This allows the fuel pump relay to pull in, which switches power on into the rest of the fuel pump control equipment. The fuel pump control regulator is controlled from terminal 104 on the ECU and is switched high or low depending on whether the ECU thinks the pump needs to run high or low. (I don't know which way around that is, and it really doesn't matter right now). The fuel pump control reg is really just a resistor that controls how the power through the pump goes to earth. Either straight to earth, or via the resistor. This part doesn't matter much to us today. The power to the fuel pump relay comes from one of the switched wires from the IGN switch and fusebox that is not shown off to the left of this page. That power runs the fuel pump relay coil and a number of other engine peripherals. Those peripherals don't really matter. All that matters is that there should be power available at the relay when the key is in the right position. At least - I think it's switched. If it's not switched, then power will be there all the time. Either way, if you don't have power there when you need it (ie, key on) then it won't work. The input-output switching side of the relay gains its power from a line similar (but not the same as) the one that feeds the ECU. SO I presume that is switched. Again, if there is not power there when you need it, then you have to look upstream. And... the upshot of all that? There is no "ground" at the fuel pump relay. Where you say: and say that pin 1 Black/Pink is ground, that is not true. The ECU trigger is AF73, is black/pink, and is the "ground". When the ECU says it is. The Blue/White wire is the "constant" 12V to power the relay's coil. And when I say "constant", I mean it may well only be on when the key is on. As I said above. So, when the ECU says not to be running the pump (which is any time after about 3s of switching on, with no crank signal or engine speed yet), then you should see 12V at both 1 and 2. Because the 12V will be all the way up to the ECU terminal 18, waiting to be switched to ground. When the ECU switches the fuel pump on, then AF73 should go to ~0V, having been switched to ground and the voltage drop now occurring over the relay coil. 3 & 5 are easy. 5 is the other "constant" 12V, that may or may not be constant but will very much want to be there when the key is on. Same as above. 3 goes to the pump. There should never be 12V visible at 3 unless the relay is pulled in. As to where the immobiliser might have been spliced into all this.... It will either have to be on wire AF70 or AF71, whichever is most accessible near the alarm. Given that all those wires run from the engine bay fusebox or the ECU, via the driver's area to the rear of the car, it could really be either. AF70 will be the same colour from the appropriate fuse all the way to the pump. If it has been cut and is dangling, you should be able to see that  in that area somewhere. Same with AF71.   You really should be able to force the pump to run. Just jump 12V onto AF72 and it should go. That will prove that the pump itself is willing to go along with you when you sort out the upstream. You really should be able to force the fuel pump relay on. Just short AF73 to earth when the key is on. If the pump runs, then the relay is fine, and all the power up to both inputs on the relay is fine. If it doesn't run (and given that you checked the relay itself actually works) then one or both of AF70 and AF71 are not bringing power to the game.
