Hi guys,

I will be taking my tool box and jack and stands and a few supplies on saturday. If anyone needs to borrow anything for some running repairs come and see me.

Look for my car or a old silver/grey pajero with a trailer and i wont be too far away.

Cheers

Luke

good to see people pulling out, why why why.

and you people runnning e85 why not just add some ethanol into your tank and make a methanol mix. 95% ethanol can be purchased from bunnings. i hope you got your car tuned for e85. how quickly do you burn out plugs and cat's ?

iv'e seen some nasty stuff and wont go near it.

also i hope it doesn't bloody rain ! i'm not driving for hours to find out the event has been cancelled.

I've been running e85 for over a year now. Car make 40rwkw more through the whole rev range.

Plugs last just as long as with pulp and I never run a cat.

The bad stuff you hear about ethanol is mostly just fuel company properganda

of course I tune for it... If you didn't how would you gain any performance? :whoops:

Hey guys tried to make this but I was just too exhausted. I've been doing 6am starts all week without time to adjust (I normally do midnight closes) and then after some drama last night didn't manage to get to bed early like I'd hoped.

Bit of a weak excuse I know, but I'd probably fallen asleep at the wheel if I tried to make the 3hour trip.

well it was good the time i stayed there.... considering the hour or so wait I had to do (others longer) due to heathcotes mis-communication

must say NUTR-33..... wow just wow, your launches were awesome :P

how many runs did yous end up getting each? weather was good by the looks of it

as many runs as you could possibly want!

weather was fantastic, 15 degrees all day, sunny, mostly blue skys with a few cloudy patches, dry track and no wind!

was amazed at nutr33 pulling 1.7 60footers and consistant mid 11's!!!

managed a 13.55 @ 112 mph in rics car, not bad.. but unskilled launches and street radials will never help

Another great SAU / WRX day, thanks to everyone who helped organise it. Been a long time since the last one :)

Even with the late start you could have as many runs as you liked, practically finish your run, drive back around to the start line and go again.

I couldn't quite squeeze back into the 11's, had to settle for bests of 12.07, 12.11, + 12.12, but I am impressed that I almost cracked 120mph (119.85)! Makes we want to buy some better tyres, touch up the tune with a bit more power and give it another shot.

And yeah that NUTR-33 really hooked up! sounded good doing it too!

NUTR33 was awesome to watch along with the yellow M3. Geez that guy drove the wheels off that thing. 200rwkw NA and running high 12s.

Finally got a 12 second time slip for the old 31. It ran low 14s all day @110-11mph then decided to throw the ET streets on. 60 foots came down to 2.1 (from 2.6) and it snuck in a 12.94 @ 108mph still with wheel spin through the 60ft. As the track people arrived a couple hours late they didnt spray any traction compound down and as its rained all week the track was an ice rink.

Thanks to the organisers.

+1 for nutr33 comments, that thing sounded so good and looked cool seeing it just squat down and put the power down.

thanks to SAUvic/WRX club for organising, had a great day. i think we only raced from 2-5pm but there was only 1 or 2 cars left by then and I reckon you could have got 20runs in the 3 hours. i liked how we didn't have to wait forever between runs, made it easier to remember what I'd done wrong in the last run.

Managed to improve my previous best from 15.3 down to 14.85@98mph which I was pretty happy with. I was actually only hoping to hit a 15.1 which is a good time for a 4seater NA zed (there area few 2 seaters in the 14's), was pretty surprised to hit the high 14s.

    • Yeah I've had too many issues with knock off's on the BMW's. I don't want to do a job twice or more because the parts are shit.
    • I read this and thought "ah! I will do this scissor jack on the tow point thing!" I just use my floor/low profile/costco jack and lift the car up by the tow hook itself, then slide jack stands under. Never thought about using scissor into floor jack combo :p
    • Well, my new WMI system took much longer to finalize. I actually missed my dyno appointment last Friday and lost my 150$ deposit. I'll be going back in the next week or two.  To sum it up. I only kept the AEM tank from my old setup. I replaced the AEM pump with a higher flow/pressure ProMeth 30GPH pump. I also swapped over to a 6AN low pressure feed line to the pump from the tank. There's also a pressure switch you cannot see on the pump high pressure line.    This is feeding 6x 200CC direct port nozzles and 1x 500CC Pre Throttle body nozzle. All fittings are Swagelok, because well why not. I also have a 300PSI pressure sensor up front.    I now have my Haltech ECU controlling everything. I start my pump with a basic relay at 5PSI and deadhead it. I then PWM a 3000CC methanol Injector to control flow starting around 10psi. The pressure switch in the trunk, along with my tank level are safeties before I ever get to 10PSI, and then I use my pressure sensor upfront as a secondary safety to cut the WMI and corrections in case the injector blocks or a line ruptures.  Wish me luck on the dyno!
    • So, I'm back with bad news. There's no jack long enough on this planet that will reach the front subframe. If by some chance there is, it would weigh 200lb's.  I purchased a long reach jack... The damn thing weighted 120lb's and was massive. Didn't even come close, was still short at least a foot. It was a pain, but I brought it back. Next I decided HA! No problem, I'll get an Extra long reach jack. Well, I couldn't lift the box... It must have weighed 160LB's and luckily there was an open box in store. I took measurement and was still nowhere close.  Sadly I've lost hope and have accepted defeat.
    • Thanks for that tip, niZmO_Man. I think the battery is OK. It's quite a new one, but I'll check. Last time I needed a new battery, everything electronic was fine, except that there wasn't enough current to turn over the starter. I decided to order one of the partial AV system translation CDs from Car Audio Workshop in NZ. That might have some effect, or help me diagnose the date problem. 🤞
