That's great news Craig. I hope you work out the CAS issue soon & get back up to full power. No problems maxing out the standard injectors? I reckon they are highly under rated, especially if you've increased the flow via better pump or FPR.

even better new Leon......Problem is solved.....I now have CAS!

Car goes like stink again!......it's very neutral in balance........power is just right!

I bet thats a relief! Great work.

Are we allowed to ask what the problem was? :)

Mate, that is great news. Btw, that stink would be left from your last passenger. I recommend a steam clean.

It was fixed by cutting the top off a zip tie and using it as a shim on the CAS.........so in other words I had to change the angle of the CAS slightly. f**k I wish I had the money back that I had thrown at this problem. I think every expert that I know or Dad knows has either had a look at the car or tried to diagnose it. Alex and I found the problem because I decided to test my spare CAS's before biting the bullet and buying another brand new one and when changing them back and forth this time I found inconsistencies in the RPM missfire and startup....so I fiddled and applied pressure in different directions and it either killed it , cleared it or f#$ked up the idle.....at first I thought the plug was stuffed but it seems that when we had done the GB change the CAS location has changed ever so slightly.....I dont' know how either it does not make sense!

Funniest thing is one or 2 of the workshops decided to call me and Forums a waist of time and we don't know anything.

I have a small quote for them!

I might just point this out to them those workshops as well!

Happy days to......onto the next part of the project!....ECU's again!

So time to do a drag strip meet to put a time on all our mods... :)

I think SO!....I still need to get the new Box in, Change spark plugs and do an oil change first.

Plus fit new bitsph34r.gif.....wont be cracking a mid 12 second past as I don't have the E-Manage on anymore but I should get a low 13 second pass!....still not bad for a 2 tonne fat cow!

I drove another M35 last night that does 14.4's..........I know my car is a lot quicker than that so it should be very interesting....at 18-19PSI my AFR's are at 10.8 so it's still got more in it except the AFM is stopping it....needs to be clamped somehow!

It's so good having Cams again!banana.gif

Good to hear you got it sorted, bastard it was one of those seemingly intangible fixes (cable tie? Really??)

ECU's? I can help you out with that :)

Jaycar have fuel cut defeater kit that I used on my last 33. It was only $20 or so to build. It has a trim pot so you can turn the cut of voltage right down.

How do you add fuel to the map with the voltage clamped so low? It's not a set figure, it changes with revs/load compared to what the ecu is expecting.

I agree. If it does clamp the AFM signal to 3.9V, the ECU won't add enough fuel under highish load IMO. My car reaches 3.9V long before WOT. Nothing wrong with modifying the AFM voltage, but to run nice it needs to vary under all the conditions the ECU is looking at.

    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
