@Jasoncauser great putting a face to a name! Time for an Android phone ? I use Race Chrono purely for speed timing and live lap timing in car, gives you data so you're able to improve each lap. purely for bragging rights, clocked 192km/h down the main straight haha
-
Sure did, however it did trip the engine protection a few times around big g corners on power (back straight of Wakefield). Oil pressure dropped under 2bar a few times around big corners on boost. As @Dale FZ1 pointed out big power, big boost = elevated crank case pressure. I did notice each time it cut the car would spew considerable amounts of oil into the catch. It seems the oil cannot be evacuated back into the sump due to the positive pressure. On main straights, no issues - this means having a head drain won't really solve my problem (also clocked 192km/h+ a few times, it moves). So yeah, motor out ? to weld on a sump fitting and connect it up to my catch can also gives me a chance to correct my shitty job at sealing the sump on the motor as it was weeping haha. Managed a slower time of 1m11.5s due to being rusty, different tyre setup and too much power LOL.

Correct, but has been slightly modded on the hot side to suit the high mount. Cold side was cut and slightly shortened to fit the existing hole made by the previous owner for the bing bong HDi FMIC.

@Robzilla32 what the actual fuark? Some people need to be put down, what a flog. Sorry it happened to you mate.
-
Picked up this blob, actually lighter than the HDi dim sum bok choy cooler. I opted for stealth black with no logo so I can tell people in public it's a black eBay 76mm IC ? Also in the odd event where it's parked somewhere out of my view it doesn't attract any attention because the entire car looks like a clapped out shit box.

@GTSBoy very good explanation, always can count on you. Generally I just leave them where they are however with card style aka R35 MAFs I fine they are horrible when they're installed into intake pipes greater than 3". It's like their ability to meter accurately goes out the window on idle where air velocity is low, and when a car has cams it makes it even worse. I've added all sorts of idle stabilisations, afm voltage smoothing but they always idle like shit once you've got brappy cams and big intake pipes. I find they're so much easier to tune post IC, as you're not greatly affected by low velocity air. Then again, speed density is my pick.

GTX3076R GEN II VS GTX3576R GEN II on RB26

Currently have the bok choy dim sum 76mm Hybrid cooler in there. Did pick up the Plazmaman Pro Series during the week. It's currently still wrapped up, no point throwing it on before the track day as I'm sure the boost control will need to be re-worked. -
@ob1 you might be entirely correct, however how would you accurately compensate for different charge temps? Those running MAFs on PowerFCs or Nistunes have no ability to compensate anything for different charge temps. Having it post cooler at least would provide an accurate reading of the air entering the motor once it has been chilled. I'm keen to hear @GTSBoy's opinion, he's like Yoda.

Billet oil pump gear review

I did, I wrote something about the Spool v1 gears (black anodised) being munched up when I spent the entire skid pan at the limiter. However the gears were placed into stock used N1 oil pump with over 200k km on the clock. Got in touch with Spool and they said those years aren't theirs? Interesting because I bought it from their damn site!! Pretty perplexed anyhow, bought v2 of the gears, also with a brand new N1 pump and they're still on the car now. Has been through 3 hours of dyno, 1x skid pan, a big drive to Singleton and back to Western Sydney. -
LOL you always get so worked up with euro cars haha... BTW the older E36 and E46 M3s are slowly creeping up in value, I'm thinking of getting one.

That M4 sounding like a bargain now compared to a R32 GT-R ?

I stand corrected However "Don Mega" spec should be at the very least an AI tank with zero welds. https://aftermarketindustries.com.au/surge-tanks-swirl-pots/bosch-surge-tanks/Aftermarket Industries SPR1200 Version 2.0 Billet Triple Fuel Pump Surge Tank designed for the following fuel pump Bosch BR540

That's terrible advice, get it on a dyno and load hold it at a fixed RPM or road speed.

I personally don't have any data however if you follow Benny from Benchmark, he pretty much straps like for like turbos onto an 4G63T and they come on earlier when compared to a RB26. Remember the big stroke of the 4G63T at 88mm versus the pussy stroke of the RB26 at 73.7mm, thus you need to rev the living daylights out of a RB where as you don't with a 4G63T.
-
But it's not, even a non MIVEC 4G63T will spool up the same size turbo on a RB26 earlier.

GTX3076R GEN II VS GTX3576R GEN II on RB26
Dose Pipe Sutututu replied to joe89's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The Old ATR43SS2 (Circa 2016) was a bit more urgent to drive, however it's a bit harder to compare as the motor had stock cams and power would nose over about the 6500rpm mark. Where as the GTX3576R Gen 2 with generic Poncams just wants to keep going. Even at 7500rpm (at lower boost) the power was still climbing to the rev limiter (8000rpm). On the street you would easily get 1bar of positive pressure by 4200rpm and you would happily stretch its legs to 8000rpm giving you a nice 4000rpm to wind out. Tuning wise, because the torque is quite flat, timing was quite flat too and the VE table also was quite flat, making tuning somewhat much easier than a motor that produces a mountain style torque curve. Should be good to use the power this weekend at the track, it's been 3 years since I've seen the track. -

As a doctor @dr phil you would be very familiar with data and facts haha. Not like this Paleo Pete Evans ? I'll pull some logs off the car at Wakefield, be good to see how my oil pressure, fuel pressure, oil and fuel temps behave on the track. There's a 6.5L baffled ASR sump in there too.
