I hade the standard rotors with Nismo pad's...stopped once or twice after that I was starting to get a solid peddle. Put the r32's and shitter rotor's and pad's on and it was much better on the same road....when to 324mm and hawk ceramic's with new dba'a and I had the neverfail experience....IMO the stock calipers and rotor size are good for a smallspirited drive...anything after that and your in gods hands!

The main problem that I get with the stock brakes is that after just one hard application I feel the stock rotors warp, and shudder. Driving round normally, there is no shudder, but once you step on it once, the things warp. I think the Rotors are soft- it seems a common progression with modern cars- once upon a time, I went 260k kms with just a hint of a lip on a rotor. These days I hear people driving daily's replacing rotors after 40k kms.

Just remember- Nissan put these brakes on a car 400kg lighter than ours, the 350Z. But on the track model they put Brembo.

I can think of a group of cars that have all brake options - a compo could be good!

Agreed. I am very impressed with the quality for the price.

Todays plans went smooth for doing the timing belt till a dud bolt snapped while doing up the CAS.

I didn't even have much pressure on it. looking at the bolt remnant, you could see half the split was old. Over-tensioned from previous owner.

So I had to remove bits again and drill/ezi-out the snapped bolt.

No damage done, and found while undoing the CAS frame/mount off the motor that one bolt was not tight ! so worth it overall.

I guess it pays to check every nut and bolt - even if you haven't touched it !!

Well, I finally bought some engine oil for mine, and am thinking of buying one of those Fumoto sump plug drains to make life even easier again! I've already got an oil filter relocation kit, so that helps!

Well we made it to tas (been here a few days now)

I'll be trying to give the car a break but my patents are down to help tidy the house and keep buying things from bunnings etc.

Just need to do the timing belt and oil now. I think I'll try the gw syn-x 3000 (autobarn for about $30)

yeh so do I. the POS has been a fail whale as of late..

Im going to go the route of new rotors & pads shortly, but stock calipers. Will see how it goes, I wont be 'tracking' my car so I dont think I reallllly need big f'off brakes.

Would be interesting to see a comparison between R33 / Brembo / Stock in pull up distances from 60km/h. Doubt it'll happen though.

They should definitely come in to it, but if we include that detail in the results perhaps it'll help highlight just how important it is to have decent tyres :thumbsup:

I could probably steal (I mean borrow) a VBox from one of my clients and get some solid results.

Cam Angle sensor is now rooted,

I think its been on the way out for a while, as I've been getting some stalls at idle, but now the code is showing.

At least its a known fix and the mechanic can get part parts easily.

That would be what happens when brake companies are not allowed to use asbestos anymore... that an the fact the world has gotten greedier than "once upon a time" :down:

I picked up my turbo..

everything fits. got the new turbo in

got me some new slotted rotors and QFM HPX type brake pads i must say still bedding in, and it feels much better than my original brakes. never realised how bad they actually were..

got the biggest i guess i could go in the standard housings. turbo is VERY laggy which should fix up on wednesdays tune. but our little actuato mod allows me to hold a flat 17-18 psi all the way through the rev range...oh without a boost controller and boost solenoid :D

no more testing the cars limit until tune :)

unfortunately that is a characteristic of bush bearing turbos.

expect about 1000rpm over the same size ball bearing turbo. I know the pain too well.....the race car runs standard n1 turbos which are big bush bearing ones.

    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
    • When I said "wiring diagram", I meant the car's wiring diagram. You need to understand how and when 12V appears on certain wires/terminals, when 0V is allowed to appear on certain wires/terminals (which is the difference between supply side switching, and earth side switching), for the way that the car is supposed to work without the immobiliser. Then you start looking for those voltages in the appropriate places at the appropriate times (ie, relay terminals, ECU terminals, fuel pump terminals, at different ignition switch positions, and at times such as "immediately after switching to ON" and "say, 5-10s after switching to ON". You will find that you are not getting what you need when and where you need it, and because you understand what you need and when, from working through the wiring diagram, you can then likely work out why you're not getting it. And that will lead you to the mess that has been made of the associated wires around the immobiliser. But seriously, there is no way that we will be able to find or lead you to the fault from here. You will have to do it at the car, because it will be something f**ked up, and there are a near infinite number of ways for it to be f**ked up. The wiring diagram will give you wire colours and pin numbers and so you can do continuity testing and voltage/time probing and start to work out what is right and what is wrong. I can only close my eyes and imagine a rat's nest of wiring under the dash. You can actually see and touch it.

So I thought if I used my table of known values I could estimate it by putting a value into the pullup resistor, and this should line up with the voltages I had measured. Input 1 = 2.98V Output 1 = 50C Input 2 = 0.407V Output 2 = 150C (0.407-2.98) / (150-50) -2.573/100 = -0.02573 2.98/-0.02573 + 47.045 = 50 So the corresponding formula should be: (Input / -0.02573) + 47.045 = Output.   If someone can confirm my math it'd be great. Supposedly you can pick any two pairs of the data to make this formula.
    • Well this shows me the fuel pump relay is inside the base of the drivers A Pillar, and goes into the main power wire, and it connects to the ignition. The alarm is.... in the base of the drivers A Pillar. The issue is that I'm not getting 12v to the pump at ignition which tells me that relay isn't being triggered. AVS told me the immobiliser should be open until the ignition is active. So once ignition is active, the immobiliser relay should be telling that fuel pump relay to close which completes the circuit. But I'm not getting voltage at the relay in the rear triggered by the ECU, which leaves me back at the same assumption that that relay was never connected into the immobiliser. This is what I'm trying to verify, that my assumption is the most likely scenario and I'll go back to the alarm tech yet again that he needs to fix his work.      Here is the alarms wiring diagram, so my assumption is IM3A, IM3B, or both, aren't connected or improper. But this is all sealed up, with black wiring, and loomed
