I think i will end up welding a -3AN line to the dipstick and run the sensor remote. If i had the blank in the block it would be ideal.

Not a bad spot for it! At least it's hidden!

Yer I just tried the link and works fine, but you may need to be a member of that Outside Skylines group to see it?

They also put this post up the other day which does show some merit :)
But can you believe everything you see on facebook lol

It would be more useful if you knew what other oil control that engine had in place. Is it a case of 30 minutes of drifting, filled catch can, decided to pull engine out and fit sump vents and oil restrictors, or did they just fit those splash plates? By the way it's written, you would hope they have just fit the splash plates and it's a straight back to back. But who knows.

End of the day, it probably all helps. But the big ones are all in the oil control thread, and I don't believe these splash plates are a solution on their own. You don't fix 30 years of inherent oil control problems with some $80 bolt-ons.

Popped my exhaust back on, so much better!

Has a rolled exhaust tip and it's smaller too, no more cut shins!

Ordering more fittings off MSCN next week to vent the crank case into the catch can, hopefully that should "solve" the catch can issue. If not, motor is coming out, I'm going to fit a Nitto oil pump and weld on 2x sump fittings.. because made a bad decision, bought a R33 and now paying for it.

@mlr legit feels like it, with the money spent, could have bought a nice M240i or nearly a M2/3/4

As long as it is bringing joy, because if it's not, then stop dropping cash on it and save the dosh for a better toy.

I kinda feel like if you had this M2/3/4, you'd be running into similar issues anyway.

Bingo, plus none of us know we're going to spend M4 money when we start out lol

In too deep now ?

Hopefully get to race this shit box with confidence after the crank case vent (and better tyres after I destroy this set).

Okay, 2 months later I decided to fit the FMIC, also turns out my old HDi bok choy FMIC was leaking. Explains why boost was hard to control and also why the car always felt a bit flat off boost. That's the blow by oil weeping through the core lol

Anyhow, fitted crank case vent to catch can, also fitted the Plazmaman Pro Series core. Car actually drives better now as it comes onto boost, much more down low and looking at the factory boost gauge I'm getting positive manifold pressure starting at 2700rpm. Big improvement, will go back and dyno it again soon and see what I can achieve with the combo.

(Please ignore those potato hoses from the cam covers to the catch can, all temporary until I go FFP and fit nice fittings and lines)

There was actually a massive shop light across the bonnet, made the photos look like IG sex spec

To keep @iruvyouskyrine happy ?

I really need to find a new R33 shell and move everything across. So much rust and shit on this one.

See what comes up @robbo_rb180 right now going to squeeze in a few track days in between finding a new place.

ANZ has royally fked up our plans too, still waiting on our refinance to settle and it's been nearly 3 weeks. Not to mention it took over 2 months for our application to be approved! In too deep now, so yeah.

Stay away from ANZ, bunch of flogs.

Man I need a proper intercooler, you can just see the quality difference. I'm thinking of buying a Hypertune core and making some carbon end tanks, but my wallet is really arguing against it. I feel like I should just give up on ever completing my build this year and buy everything that tickles me ?

Sucks to hear about bank drama. Freeing up some dollars for a BMW or more Reno's?

Please do this. How would you bonding to aluminium go with the pressure?

    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
    • OK, if it idles at 1000+ with the AAC, its not an idle airflow problem. The cold start valve just gives extra air when the engine is cold, but you have enough air without it to idle at 1000. I think you are back to a fuel problem, sorry. Can you see the fuel pressure staying constant or does it drop as the revs drop to a stall?
