Is this one of the "rebuilt by NISMO" cars, fully stripped down and rebuilt in Japan?

There was a purple 34 a while ago that some aussie guy had rebuilt there, cost was apparently, alot...

Nah, just one of the M spec NUR versions. The purple GTR your thinking of is probably the V spec performance Z-tune. That's about the only one I'd expect to pull that sort of money, buy hey.

I found a new contender though. Anyone interested in a R32 GTR N1 with 4000km on the clock....? WTF, have a look at this madness.

Reminds of early 2000's when Oz muscle/classic cars went silly crazy but then had a massive drop after a while. I would like to see where they are ending up and what the owners are doing with them. 
Have a look at what the used Ferrari market is like as the 90's models like the f355 have gone from $80-90K in 2007-2009 and then all of a sudden jumped to $150-200k+ for the manuals. 
Everyone that grew up with them and dreamed about wanting one I think have now got the means to own one so demand is definitely driving the price up along with younger people being influenced by the youtubers/instagram persons

I don't agree. I think they are also being bought by people with deep pockets AND who have always wanted one. Of course they ALSO suspect (rightly or wrongly) they may hold their value or even appreciate further due to USA, blah blah.

The ones I feel sorry for is the people in the states who are going to be buying the "best skyline they can afford" even $$$ ones they then pay Japan to garage, or store in Canada for now, not realising they've been stuck with a rolled back car, one with rust or worse, or one that will pop the moment they hammer it.

Meh. They live in a country where they can easily buy a Corvette. There's only so much sympathy I can spare for people who want a dirty old Datsun instead.

Some of it has to do with dying baby boomers and redistribution of wealth.

At my age (55) I know quite a few people that are now getting inheritances consisting of multiple properties and other large assets.

A couple of my friends are in this boat, mum and dad invested well, and now the kids, who are now in their 40-50's are riding high.

One guy I know well from my youth ended up selling/cashing in all the assets during the settlement and became instant multi millionaire.

He now owns a heap of classic cars and bikes, he basically found the best condition stuff he alway wanted and dropped the cash.

Now his biggest concern in life is needing to buy a bigger house because the current one has run out of places to park up all the stuff he has and the other stuff wants.

Good on him, because you cannot take it with you.

I would buy it, daily it for a while, then track it until it broke, then, rebuild it, boost the bejebus out of it, and then, typically, I would crash it...

Then buy another one to rinse and repeat.

Yeah, that's fair. But the C8 is ultimately a very different kind of car, DCT-only. I think that's pretty apples and oranges.

While I tend to agree - The reason we like Corvettes is why Americans like Skylines... they don't have them.

I think a C6 Z06 with a 7 liter V8 and a manual is pretty peak car. But over there they're 'common', and a boosty boi R34 is more rare and appealing as a result.

    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
