The arches are being professionaly rolled by these guys http://www.archenemy.co.uk/ - no drift tyte rolling here

I will change for a 245/45 when i have killed the current ones off - no point ditching new tyres for the sake of it.

Will the below wheels fit a late model Stagea?

Front - 19" x 8.5" (30 mm offset) 245/35/19

Rear - 19" x 9.5" (30 mm offset) 265/35/19

you need to match the rolling diameter of the tyres on the front and the back at all times. so, the closest match ive found for 19s is a 235/35/19 on the front for an 8.5" rim and a 275/30/19 on the rear for a 9.5" rim. there is only about 3mm difference in rolling height between the two. that info is from the official tyre standards book i have at work (im a tyre fitter)

Is that the only reason they won't fit? What about physical dimensions around the guard/brakes/suspension?

I had these on a 350z Track and the traction control requires very specific rolling diameter front to back and apart from the 275 rear you suggest (which i was originally after, but difficult to find in reasonable price tyre that matched the front) the next best option by mm's was 265.

i haven't had a chance to try those sizes on my car yet but i'm assuming they will a tight fit physically, my car is also a manual so i require different offsets to autos. as long as the offset is good then brake clearence wont be an issue.

ill check rolling diameters on 265s tomorrow but it would definately need to be a 30 series to be anywhere close to matching a 245/35... il see what i can find but from memory, the only thing close enough to a match was the 235/35 and 275/30

Interesting; I have those exact same rims (R33 GTR I mean) on my series 2 with standard suspension, no spacers. They sit pretty well too I think... 245/45/R17.

I agree - that's right, tyres are not wide enough at 245... but anything wider than that in tyres is sooo darned expensive... even at 17's. I calculated my tyre width as being about right at 245mm with 9-inch wide R33 GTR wheels (245mm ~= 9.6") but alas, evidently I did not allow enough for the lip/beads/whatever, and they are stretched but only a little. Tye fitter told me about it and said it was ok but that I would get a little premature wear on the edges.

ok, got some sizes here.

for 19'' tyres with 35 series profile- all will fit an 8.5" rim legally

215 - 633mm

225 - 641

235 - 647

245 - 655

255 - 661

265 - 669

275 - 675

30 series- all will fit a 9.5" rim legally

255 - 637

265 - 643

275 - 649

285 - 655

so, closest matches are 225/35/19 and 265/30/19 only 2 mm difference between

and, 235/35/19 and 275/30/19 only 2 mm diffenence

BUT

235/35 and 275/30 are nominal sized tyres for 8.5 and 9.5" rims

the other sizes will fit legally and safely but the nominal (reccomended) sizes are 235/35 and 275/30

I think your rears might be close to the struts. I currently have 19 x 8.5 + 20 rims on my car front and rear. I have about an inch of clearance from the inside of the rim to the rear strut. With an inch wider rim and also the 10mm difference in offset it will be close to the strut tower. If you can test fit the rims I would check this for sure to make sure you have enough clearance. FYI mine is a manual version so has slightly different rear end setup so it may not be an issue with your car but it always pays to check.

Hi everyone, newbie here with a boring question but info on stageas seems hard to come by. Anyone know what the standard tyre fitment is for 2001 (M35) stagea. Has standard factory 6 spoke 16inch wheels. Current hard and cracked tyres look like prob originals from japan 205-65-16. Did quick measure rims look like 6 1/2 inch. Judging by our websites here in NZ that looks like an oddball tyre size, not much selection available. Any recommendations for4 average driving but something a little bit extra grippy like Re001's etc... Thanks

Standard fitment should be on sticker inside wall. I am using Re001 235/45/17 - used to have 215/55/16 on my last set of rims - look for a set of V35 17in rims if you don't have the cash for Rays just now - they will look good and stock at the same time.

Your tyres are not wide enough. I guess you are going to get wider ones when you "adjust" your wheel arches (quote from Yokotas13 "baseball bat is your friend") but some people seem happy to run with "stretched" tyres which will not handle as well as properly fitted tyres. It appals me but for some it seems a kind of fashion statement!

What a load of old tosh. 235s on a 9 is no stretch, its barely any tighter than a perfect 'square' fitment. The big sidewall protectors most modern tyres have makes them look as though they're pulled tighter than they are. There'll be no disadvantage to the handling there.

Now, if he had 10s or wider...you might have had something to carp about.

Tosh? Tosh? Possibly my fault for making two points in one post. Califunky's tyres are not wide enough - 235s on 9in rims may be acceptable according to the charts but looking at the photos with this particular tyre/rim application they are not square enough for my liking but certainly not bad enough to ditch - I too would want my money's worth out of the rubber..

but I have seen other people (not Califunky) with ridiculously stretched tyres - possibly to fit under guards or because they bought the wide rims but find they can't afford the stratospheric prices for the rubber to go with them. i guess it makes sense for the drifters because they are after controlled power slides so want to lose traction and grip ( opposite to the norm).

p.s reference to baseball bat was a joke - I wouldn't use one on my car either but with Yokotas i am not quite sure whether or not that was in jest!

For M35 16" wheel, OEM size is 205/65R16 with 95 load rating and S speed rating. Should be dirt cheap to replace...

My RS is 215/55R17, 7" wide.

Can't remember the load & speed rating, but it was different to my mate's RS :)

I believe that the 16's came on the 250RS (RWD N/A)... and looked crap in those huge wheel arches!

Ah yes, us Aussies with our Turbos get the 17s on RS/RX and 18s on the AR-X, but the Kiwi's can have a NA 2.5 Direct injection which comes with 16" wheels on both 2wd and 4wd RS and RX models.

And in 2wd, they also only get a 4 speed gearbox...

Offset?

If you are getting bigger brakes, don't bother with these. You will never fit them over the larger calipers.

Stock RS wheels are 17x7 so these will easily fit if the offset is satisfactory.

One last thing. Try to keep the wheels and tyres the same size all round.

I know the Z33's and V35's of the world generally have wider rear tyres, but that is because they are RWD cars.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve. 
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
