  1. You need an aftermarket fpr when the factory one won't fit. ie, if you upgrade your fuel rail. Not many other reasons to change it
  2. It would have overspun to no end. But there would be almost zero load on the shaft and bearings anyway. That's not an area that people are knowledgeable in so you may or may not have f**ked the turbo. Hard to say it was 2nd hand anyway and has a crack in the rear housing, oil in the front housing and a fair whack of shaft play. Why are you considering using this turbo? buy a freshie if you want it to run properly and reliably; who knows, this one could spit the comp wheel into your intake and lunch the motor too. forget about the water rising in the radiator with a rev, that's normal. Pressure in the cooling system is also normal, to an extent. In terms of moving forward with your project, I think you should set it up how you intend to run it (ie turbo). Install all your proper intake piping, cooler and AFM piping then just tune it. You've got a good base project just needs a bit of tweaking.... that's if your turbo is okay, personally I wouldn't use it but you may be more inclined to do so
  3. Yeah I had to pull a couple injectors to find the dead FIVEO highflow and they had a fair bit of gunk around the tips, nothing in the way of the fuel flow though. I cleaned it up and didn't think twice about it. Maybe a tank of petrol isn't such a bad idea every now and then; but it's definitely not a deterring factor
  4. Yeah I wish I had one too. I swapped out a dead R33 motor for another 33 25 that I have now. Didn't realise the huge benefits of running the R34 motor at the time, should have done that instead higher lift stock cams, drop in top feeds, beefier factory bottom end.. drool
  5. Dude I've got the same injectors as you haha I heard good things from 2 people and thought they'd be sweet..... nahh
  6. You can run an AFC or nistune with the auto. The others won't pull timing on gear changes and will destroy your transmission pretty quickly from what I've heard. AFC's are no good, even with a stock turbo there isn't much point of running a piggyback like that. I'm sure there was a time when it was a good idea but not anymore I guess. nistune it is.
  7. so long as the tolerances are good just throw it in and rip skiddies edit: did you say you're fitting fresh bearings?
  8. Remember that these crappy highflow injectors are modified old tech sidefeeds that were designed in an era where high alcohol content fuels were nothing but a dream.
  9. you're definitely not the first to do that don't feel too bad!
  10. yeah E85 improves response but won't spool the turbo any quicker OR earlier in the rev range. ie, the turbo response characteristics are same same e85 vs ULP It just means you can run stupid amounts of ignition timing If I was looking to your power range I'd look at highmounting a FP HTA3582; although I think you just mentioned you've already got a twin scroll manifold and FP don't offer a TS rear housing.
  11. only thing I can think of would be the plug. or if you can, apply an external 12v to + and 0v to - and listen for it ticking
  12. That's what I meant I didn't mean to infer that the 80mm pipe will be the power restriction
  13. My understanding is that the afms have an airflow limit which roughly translates to a power limit. But on e85 you make more power for the same airflow so that power ceiling is a bit higher According to nistune the z32s are good for 500hp (from memory) but probably a bit more on e85 The other thing is you might want a 4inch intake on that set up
  14. I'm monitoring this thread. Curious what GTX3071's could do in twin form. Also what kind of manifold would you need for twins that size?? I've never pulled a gtr apart so I don't really know how much room there is
  15. 300rwkw can be quite a handful if the car isn't set up properly. Trouble is that everyone can have 300 pretty easily on a relatively stock car
  16. Hey Scotty what was the maximum power on e85 from the walbro 460? Also what was the base fuel and boost pressure?
  17. sure kill your fuel economy, foul your plugs and stall on decel for some p plater cred
  18. for f**ks sake leave the stock BOV set up and air filter. Pods are a defect did you not know that? P Platers in turbo cars get pulled over more often than anyone else on the road why would you risk it when there is ABSOLUTELY NO GAIN. flutter sound? who the f**k cares it sounds stupid to anyone who actually knows anything /rant
  19. not sure why mine hasn't blown up yet. I found the Vac hose had come off the FPR. thank you E85
  20. pistons shouldn't matter unless you're running stupid amounts of lift. 25det neo cams have higher lift than the r33 25 stockers. VCT shouldn't change although for the R34 head you don't need an oil restrictor in the feed. I'm not sure if it really matters on the R33 heads anyway, someone else probably could answer this. The DET heads are much more suited to boost in their factory form as I'm sure you know.
  21. Yeah, the 25's are better in every single way. displacement (obvious) VCT heaps less lag because of those 2, as well as being stronger and makes more power on less boost with less lag (same turbo); the R34 25's are even better Does anyone know the weight difference between the 20 and 25? edit: forgot to mention the RB20det gearbox is notoriously weak, so I guess don't be surprised if it goes pop on you. The RB25det gearbox is probably a good upgrade but I don't know how easy it is to organise a tailshaft
  22. Depends what you want really. I reckon an RB25 is the best mod for the 32's but having said that, thrash the rb20 till it pops THEN throw in the 25.
  23. Not going to happen at 3-4k even on a 30 bottom end
  24. Z32's have an orange sticker, a different plug and are 80mm. Also if you're on the stock ECU you can safely bet that your afms are standard
  25. Go for the higher comp unless you plan to run stupid boost on 98 imo it will improve off boost drive ability, but by how much? who knows e85 + stupid boost still go the higher comp.
