Well this is certainly very dissapointing to hear. I didn't know that mercury had closed shop but there was a lot coming out of the rumor mill and none of it sounded good for mercury. It's a shame that the engines will sit for the forseeable future as their full potential has still never been seen. Hopefully MSM offer you that obsurd amount and stick the 3.3 back in the S15. Thanks very much for such an interesting read, following the development process has been extremely fun for me, good luck with thatever project you choose to tackle next!

I have never used anything but gasket maker. The gasket looks like a piece of a4 paper cut roughly into the shape of a dick anyway, would much prefer liquid gasket

A Boy's Love For His Rb20
iruvyouskyrine replied to Roy's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Lucky its not a standard manifold. Twinscroll T4 mani with twin 40mm turbosmart compgates and the appropriate Twinscroll T4 0.80A/R housing for the turbo! -
RB26 Cylinder Head Options

As above, no head would have better or worse cooling/water jackets.- 5 replies

RB26 Cylinder Head Options
iruvyouskyrine replied to 2_Liter_Turbo's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
If you are wanting to do decent porting then just grab any head as it won't matter much anyway. If you don't want to do any head porting etc then an R34 flavour head would (presumably) be best to start with under the assumption that the later models had better heads. Is it worth the extra hassle/cost of sourcing an R34 head over any RB26 you can get? Probably not. Best bet is just to get some decent/light porting of whatever series of RB26 head you end up with/already have.- 5 replies

Oil Pressure doubles when hot
iruvyouskyrine replied to wildeagle44's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Agree with trying another gauge and come back with results. -
Still sell it in NSW. And what GTSBoy said is correct, anything over 50% ethanol you already have most of the benefits of E85. If you question is "is the performance benefit worth driving an extra 30 mins to get united over caltex ethanol" then the answer is no. Might be 5-10kw and a tiny bit of knock resistance at best

should i worry about low oil and water temp? r34gtr
iruvyouskyrine replied to Nosure's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Block your oil cooler with some cardboard in the cooler months of the year as well. Cheap and effective. -
I find it funny you change plugs regularly but don't change your engine oil for years [emoji23]

Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0

6758 with .64 A/R rear end will surely overspeed the turbine on 20ish psi wouldnt it? I have a 6758 with the .80 T4 twinscroll and thought that would be too small for an RB25. -
Impossible to tell from photos. It all depends on where the tensioner stud is tapped into the block as to how hard the belt it so get on. On my car its pretty tight a to get the belt on and doesn't require much tension adjustment to get it to correct. I have done heaps of timing belts and my rough gauge is you shouldn't be able to turn it more than 45 degrees with a decent amount of hand pressure line in your pic.

How-to: Greddy-style Plenum Install
iruvyouskyrine replied to ix9's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
For everyone playing at home, its actually pretty simple to do. When you have all the parts and are trying to put it all back toether it makes sense and can only really go together one way. Utilising your brain and the desciption that ix9 provided you can do it. Bumping this 10 year old thread and asking the OP (who hasn't been online for over a year) for pictures that he has said he ne longer has is proooooobably not going to yield any results. Have you actually searched through this thread as i know for a fat they have been rehosted somewhere else online at least once or twice. -

Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0
iruvyouskyrine replied to Piggaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Pretty noob with all this, but doesnt a 7670 on a 2.8 Neo seem like a very small turbo? Maybe its just too small and the 2.8 is pushing it hard and able to push boost right past what the gate should be limiting it to?
