  1. That temperature sensor is designed to tell you if the cat has failed and is blocked, it simply turns on a warning light on the dash if the exhaust is too hot. Everyone just disconnects it which is probably why there is nowhere to attach it to the new exhaust. The r34 GTR does have a separate exhaust sensor in the dump pipes for dash display
  2. Location in either the thread or your profile might help?
  3. Agreed...noisy strut tops are one thing but that is bumping around/wearing. It could be the spring on the shock body, so check for wear marks particularly on the threaded section of the shock. Assuming all 4 shocks look like the pic, it is unlikely to be the spring rattling because the helper springs seem to be long enough to give it a little preload. But most likely that is a strut top knocking, and while that's not exactly dangerous it will be annoying and wear way quicker than it should.
  4. OK, update to that. With a change in web hosting the manual is now available here. http://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/StageaServiceManual.pdf 353Mb, 3236 pages of japanese characters and (luckily) diagrams....
  5. Is the noise more apparent when cold? A tapping that increases with revs and is louder when cold in a gtr can be a spun big end bearing. they can be surprisingly quiet at first... Potentially anything else on the front of the engine so you could run it for a minute or 2 with the belts off and see if that stops the noise The valvetrain and injectors are always pretty noisy, and as GTSBoy said generally never need servicing, unlikely to be the issue.
  6. All the factory torque settings are in the workshop manual. Even if aftermarket, if you are using the same sized bolts eg M10 as factory you should be fine with these settings http://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/gtr_32_service_manual.pdf
  7. Personal attacks, negative posts about businesses (including childish name calling) and off topic posts (this is a turbo, not ECU thread) removed. It's not that hard to keep a discussion civil. Further such posts will lead to warnings and bannings
  8. amazing turn out today, well done to everyone that was able to make it. Obviously a sad day but I think it went well and it was great to be able to say goodbye to Nick
  9. Hope you can make in Joel, and anyone else that can too See you there.
  10. I don't know them, but at $20k for a setup you should consider the hollinger sequential as well. Tried and tested local option. BTW, you can break any gearbox if you try hard enough. Other than correct installation in these custom setups, maintenance is totally different in a race box (you need to tear down and inspect regularly) and how you shift will be a major factor in time between failures
  11. Don't know what that attachment is meant to be....but it didn't work....
  12. Kel and I will be heading up to the big smoke on Tuesday, we've definitely got a club tshirt or 10 to choose from
  13. Hold onto it long enough and it will go around to being a classic Wish I'd kept my 33 these days. Sorry I don't have a suggestion for box rebuild in Vic. Even in NSW the guys I'd used for years had disappeared
  14. Best not to drive around the burger ring backwards anyway If both lights have failed, I'd check fuse and then wiring at the gearbox is plugged in. The actual switch is a bastard to get at in the car because it doesn't have a proper hex shape and can be very tight in an area with poor clearance. Easy to change at least 1 globe first but it's unlikely both failed.
  15. Well, massive thumbs up to the supplier that they took responsibility and corrected the impact of the issue with no problems. That is by no means guaranteed in car aftermarket, so good on them.
  16. Again, I guess most people have seen this on Facespace, but these are the details for the funeral, from Rosie: Nick's Funeral Details Thank you all again for all your kind messages. 17. Gearbox needs removal and fixing. What happens inside them is back magic best left to a specialist. Alternatively, drive with your hand on the shifter in uneven gears
  18. All nissans post about 1985 are short nose not long nose R200s, but there were differences between models particularly non ABS and 3 vs 4 channel ABS. There are differences in half shaft teeth and size, so half shafts and diff centres need to match In an ABS car you need either pinion (3 channel) or halfshafts (4 channel) that match, ie have ABS sensors. The crownwheel and pinion both need to be changed to change the ratio. I've never heard of an issue with R200 fitting any available ratio (there is an issue with gtr front diffs and r34 ratios...) I don't know the specifics of your swap, but what I expects is the S15 gears will fit in the casing, the S15 pinion will have an ABS sensor which you don't need (no matter), and your current tailshaft will probably need modification (shortening) if the S15 flange is further away than your current R33 one.
  19. so....the earth wire was switched with the power wire in the loom you bought, and now the ECU is fried. Perhaps talk to the people that made the loom, it is reasonable important to have the right wires in the right places
  20. Done (although next time a link to the thread in question would help!), or even better just use the report feature so we have all the details.
  21. I stole this pic from Nick's gallery on here, from when he first got his Stagea.... Back in about 2001 I was working in the Colonial building in north paramatta....every day I saw this green corolla parked in a disabled zone right out front with a Skylines Downunder sticker (yes, this was pre-SAU) on the front. I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet and become a friend of the driver
  22. got a pic of what you are looking for?
  23. I guess many/most of you have already seen this news elsewhere, but for those who aren't social media-ly active, one of our club's founding members, Nick, passed away on Friday. Nick had health challenges from birth, and while he fought hard over the years his health was deteriorating, leading to longer hospital stays and less active times in between. Unfortunately his challenges caught up with him and he passed peacefully last week. I knew Nick for almost 20 years, and he was always one of the most giving and committed members of the club, despite his challenges. He was a VP and committee member, a key organiser of big events like our social cruises and show n shines, and did a great job looking after designing and managing sales of the club merchandise for about 10 years. He was passionate about cars and particularly Stageas and Skylines until the end, even if he went a bit off the rails (ie euro) in later years. Please join me in wishing his family and friends well, and feel free to post here your memories/pics/thoughts for everyone.
  24. which car? is there a factory option? we self tapped for both the Leaf and the race car, it's the lowest profile look I can think of. If you want to be less dodgy you could use rivnuts to make it more easily removable
