Old man 32 GTR
Custom shroud and 16’ Spal fan. And the battery is being relocated to the boot with a under bonnet surge tank being fitted. All the aftermarket wiring and relays are being removed and it will all be controlled via a PDM. I also bought a PRP coil pack bracket and stalks so I will be able to fit the valley cover back on, it’s been coated and fitted with a new R34 ornament plate. 3 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/471263-gtr-i-just-got-one/page/7/#findComment-7938685 Share on other sites
Ben C34
Under boner surge tank seems questionable, what's the thinking behind that? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/471263-gtr-i-just-got-one/page/7/#findComment-7938706 Share on other sites

For me, it’s to fill the space where the battery sits once it’s relocated to the boot. Benefits are better and more consistent Fuel pressure, as the lines from the pumps to the rail are now significantly shorter. The rear of the car reverts back to standard with the only mod being the rubber lines upgraded to something e85 compatible. So no more aftermarket lines from the rear of the car to the front. I never had this issue but also for set ups that suffer from fuel smell in the cabin, this eliminates that. The only downside you might be able to argue is would the tank suffer from heat soak from engine bay heat? I can’t see this being an issue with where it’s mounted, on the cold side of the motor and furthest away from the motor. And it doesn’t just sit in place, it’s mounted in place so can’t move. What are your thoughts on it Ben? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/471263-gtr-i-just-got-one/page/7/#findComment-7938712 Share on other sites

What are your thoughts on it Ben? the heat soak is my main concern. I know drag cars do it, but they are hardly on so not a good reference! As for the fuel pressure benefit, I dont think that is really an issue is it? Any half decent ecu can compensate for fuel pressure with a sensor (that you would surely run) if there is some discrepancy. I imagine you have a flex sensor? they measure fuel temp also so depending where it is mounted you will tell if there is a heat soak impact of having the surge tank in the engine bay. I get it makes for good use of space, but it does seem a bit bad in a crash..... 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/471263-gtr-i-just-got-one/page/7/#findComment-7938733 Share on other sites
Old man 32 GTR
Well, it’s getting there, car is almost done, dash configuration is being completed, (it looks good) and the last bits and pieces are being fitted. With a bit of luck might have it home some time next week. 3 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/471263-gtr-i-just-got-one/page/7/#findComment-7940729 Share on other sites

So you're retaining the factory top hat with 5/16 in/out fittings, factory hard lines and 5/16 feed/return from surge tank to main tank ? What intank pump are you running ? What intank pump are you running ? Yes, I believe this is the case, I know 100% they used the factory top hat and hard lines. I’ll have to look at the invoice to confirm but I believe they used a 255lph pump in main tank and two 460’s in the surge tank. Thanks Daymo, I’m very happy with the result, not sure if you noticed but there are shift lights in the tacho, oil pressure gauge also gives oil temp, water temp gauge give water pressure, fuel level gauge gives fuel pressure, and where the trip metre should be gives boost. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/471263-gtr-i-just-got-one/page/7/#findComment-7940970 Share on other sites
