  1. Hot diggity! Stunning work mate
  2. My god.... I think a workmate (Ryan Lewis) was telling me about your car, I follow you on insta. Best of luck with the sale man, she's an absolute peach!
  3. Definitely sus, and not worth the risk of doing nothing. If you can, move it behind your house and park it in - just try and avoid leaving it easily accessible on the street, or even visible from the street. I sympathise with your concerns though - my worst fear with my car is it getting stolen
  4. Learnt something new! Neat! I've seen a few but always assumed they were resprays
  5. Fuuuaaaarck just saw these on Facebook last night, and just bought different wheels last week You're close by too, I work in Oakleigh haha Good luck with the sale man
  6. Depends what you want the car for. Is this a recreational weekend car? track car? daily? Good thing is you've got your budget - there's plenty of choice at that price point. Are you strictly thinking Japanese performance cars? You mentioned you might be cross-shopping with an RS3, but like you said - they're very different cars.
  7. My old man was vaguely looking at secondhand R35s a few years ago. I'm sure they're even cheaper now, but from what research I remember: If you have the budget, you probably don't want anything pre-2011 facelift. It got a power-bump and is reportedly more fuel efficient. Bigger brakes, revised suspension. If i'm not mistaken they did fettle with the gearbox too as the early-production ones don't have a great reputation for reliability (though those were probably owned by muppets who could only afford the early ones and launched it too any times for their mates).
  8. Yeah GT-V's are kinda neat, I remember reading about them from my P-plate days haha From memory, it had all the GTT brakes, suspension etc which might explain the GTT notation in the vin code. Not to poke holes, but what did the VIN say your original colour was? I didn't know Bayside Blue was ever offered on ER34s from factory.
  9. Can't wait till Bad Boys III comes out! OP, what's Martin Lawrence like IRL?
  10. At a glance, the wing stands on the 326 looks way further apart than the standard ER34 wing. You'll likely have to drill man unfortunately. "Universal" is sometimes more of a headache to fit than something designed for specific application. And it wouldn't be the wing you're after if it was made to fit your car. If you can, try and find another boot lid - then at least you'll keep your original one unaltered.
  11. Cheers mate! Yes, it's an old manual focus SLR. A Minolta SRT101 from the 60s if that means anything to anyone. With a trusty 50mm 2.8 prime lens. Basic setup, but bulletproof and enough to have fun with
  12. Old cars on older camers. Here's a few of my artsy fartsy film shots of the old gal
  13. How has this not sold yet? It's genuinely astounding! If I was ready to trade in the current daily, this would be top of the list! All the best with the sale mate, hope it goes to a good home soon
  14. If it was me, it'd be standard bumpers with all the aero! ❤️
  15. Do the eBay ones come with the plastic clips for the shift surround? Replacing them is high on my list but the few I've seen don't come with the clips (mine are broken -_- ). Do Nissan still produce them by any chance? Or are they part of the heritage parts initiative? EDIT: Found these in the US, pretty much what I'm after with the plastic surround
  16. Incredible work mate! I check this thread daily for updates haha, can not wait to see it progress!
  17. Yeah, you actually don't want too harshly sprung suspension, over corrugations in the road, the car can be unsettled at speed. Slamming a car too will mess with the suspension geometry and is pretty common if all other suspension arms are factory. Would echo GTSboy's recommendation of getting an expert to look at it and point out what needs fixing. If it steers to one side, it could also be an alignment issue
  18. Stopped next to a blue (custom colour I think, not TH1) BNR32 this morning on Warrigal rd, crossing North rd towards Oakleigh. White TE37s and an SAU Vic sticker on the rear 1/4 window. Wasn't in the Nissan unfortunately, took a press car home last night, but the car looked pretty tough!
  19. Sucks to hear mate, but yeah - I'd be investigating the head gasket
  20. This is something I've been keeping a relatively close eye on for the past few years. Working for UniqueCars magazine, i'm continually staggered at how much action the classic australian scene is seeing, and i'm not really a native Aussie car guy - so when someone at Shannons blows the same amount of money for an old Kingswood when they could have had an E36 M3 AND an E34 M5. That's bloody insanity I reckon. Million dollar XYs - madness! Talk to anyone at Pebble Beach with a million dollar anything and they'll think you're an absolute nutter. But I digress: Japanese cars at the top end are solidly beginning to make waves in the international collector world. A few years ago, a Toyota 2000GT was the first to break seven figures at Pebble Beach - and people were definitely shocked. Since then a few Hakos and Cosmos have passed through fetching a good few hundred thousands a piece. More traditional establishments like the Petersen museum for example, have a massive Japanese car exhibit going on at the moment. Infiniti is even hosting a display at this year's Concours d'Elegance dedicated to Japanese classics. I've definitely identified a number of shifts covering classic car news overseas for a while, and I definitely think old jap cars are still a burgeoning market and only going to get bigger still. As for that Hako, funny I was looking at it just a few days before the auction ended. As others have said, yeah there's plenty of people - in the US especially - wiling to pay hand over fist for dem JDM bragging points. But even USD$80K doesn't seem unreasonable in comparison to what else is changing hands for over there EDIT: A genuine '72 GT-R sold at Gooding & Co at Pebble beach in 2016 for USD$187,000 (pre-auction estimate between $225-$275!) So $87 for the restomod replica sounds... like it makes sense. Between 2014 and 2015, Hagerty reported a 377% increase in search traffic for Hakosuka values Furthermore - at Monterey in 2014, RM Sothebys sold a 72 H/T 2000GT for USD$242,000!!!
  21. If you're looking new, I'd be looking at a Skoda Superb 162TSI or 206TSI. Same engine as the Golf (the 206 gets the Golf GTI engine!), built by Volkswagen so build quality is there. Cheaper than its Volkswagen brethren. Get it in battleship grey and check the tech pack option for the adaptive suspension... gosh I'm getting heavy just thinking about it. The 206 is awd only though, 162 is FWD. Gearbox is a proper dual-clutch automatic. Skodas definitely don't get enough praise.
  22. Did someone on here buy this car? Saw it on Sunday, corner of South Road and Nepean Hwy. Would be nice to have a fellow SAUer in the area
  23. Shot you a text today mate with some questions Car looks clean (y)
