  1. My guess (and that's all it is) is that it was for firing up some high powered lights.
  2. Get a passenger to watch for you. See at what speed or rpm it hits 20 psi. BTW boost tails off slowly straight after hitting 20 psi - is this normal for these turbos? Are the internal wastegates working properly? Not catching anywhere? Did the tuner spend some time on the adjustable cam gears (I have no idea what the settings should be for your engine)? If you get the same result as your chart consider changing the boost controller if adjustment doesn't fix it.
  3. You can easily test the operation of your thermostat in situ. Turn the car on from cold and feel the waterhose. Let it idle and you will be able to tell when the thermostat opens as the hose will suddenly become warmer. Check your water temperature gauge. After it has warmed up the radiator if your temperature continues to rise you can rule out the thermostat as the cause since once its open it can do no more to reduce the heat.
  4. OK I have re-read your original post and it seems you do not understand that once a thermostat has opened then it has no ability to regulate the temperature (unless you are operating in freezing conditions when it might close again). That is why regardless of the opening temp of your thermostat ( and you say you have tested them and they open as advertised) your operating temperature remains at 84 deg. Talk of "headroom' is a blind alley. It only takes a few minutes of hard use to raise temps quickly and cooling is only available by the radiator and oil cooler. Problems can be caused by blocking of the radiator by oil cooler and intercooler placement, or some fan arrays and can be ameliorated by air ducting and turbo or exhaust wrapping.
  5. You're just showing off! I haven't had the chance to try any of the above mentioned shops although we are OK for tuners here in Auckland thanks.
  6. Has it ever worked since you had it? New ECU requires a line from the TPS to somewhere - there's info in here somewhere.
  7. Left hand side of boot forward of wheel arch.
  8. Make sure you get an awd box! Top up fluids and bleed - nothing special to do.
  9. Have a good look at the plug. If its ok and you're real keen look at the pinouts and run wire directly from the ecu to the maf to eliminate the wires as a problem. If you have a mate handy swap out the ecu in case its the ecu or just the pins in the plug.
  10. Extra Fuel Oil Brake fluid Cable Ties
  11. I would think you need a Nistune to make it work.
  12. Have you had a look to see if someone has already grounded the solenoid or otherwise disabled it? If it has a solenoid it has to have two boost levels otherwise its pointless. Next ground it anyway and see if it makes a difference.
  13. Yes. Like the others said get a Toyota corolla - do not modify it (as you will be tempted to do with any type of Skyline) and put your money in the bank towards your GTT. Learn to maintain your car and become a better driver.
  14. Use Google - it seems to work better than the search function - and you will find stuff like this: http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/18757-what-do-i-need-to-do-to-my-car-before-a-track-day/
  15. like it says in SK's "how to"....
  16. Opening temp of thermostat makes no difference to max temps. I think the reasoning behind not running no thermostat is that the water flows too quickly through the radiator to allow heat transfer.
  17. -11 come gapped at 1.1 but either way gap them down to 0.8mm BCPR6ES should do you.
  18. No pics or other info - how would we know if they are S1 or S2?
  19. You can't rule out the fuel pump. It doesn't take much petrol to fire the engine up - takes a lot more to move 1600kg.
  20. Just checking - it should be behind the coin tray but sometimes they seem to fall down or otherwise become detached. Have you had a look upwards from under the dash (need to be a bit of a contortionist)?
  21. Yes. I have seen video of an RB30 with a Link cutting the power when the oil pressure gets too low and no, the car did not spin out and crash in a ball of fire.
  22. I did it to my car when it had an RB25DET and it gave it a little more zip with no adverse affects. A mate at work did it to his Stagea and gained a little. Not the same as a massive turbo but it doesn't cost anything.
  23. Well there is. If you follow my suggestion you will get the extra couple of psi OP is looking for without spending a cent.
  24. Hope it left a forwarding address or you're stuffed.
