Converting a Gt-v into a 25gtt
KiwiRS4T replied to Co0psieeeee's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Well you asked the question. I believe your car has the RB20 sized box not the RB25 big box that the GTT etc have.- 9 replies

When do I *need* to get a z32 afm on a 20det?
KiwiRS4T replied to r32GTSTI6's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
You may get there with your stock AFM and a good tuner can make up the difference if it is not too much but why not get a Z32 AFM and shoot for max HP? You know you will only want more... -

You need the big box. The Rb20 box won't hack it for long - especially if you up the power levels.- 9 replies

R32 GTR welded rear diff
KiwiRS4T replied to drunken0elf's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
What vandal welded up a mechanical LSD? Return to stock with a second hand or new OEM unit but price that against a new Nismo LSD in case its not much more than the OEM one. -
Depends where you are and what your best local tuner likes.
-
There is no substitute for a decent tuner. People have made huge power with PFC, successfully dragged and circuit raced with them. Sure if you were buying an ECU today there would be many better but a good tuner can get good results with a PFC - 500hp should be a piece of cake. Of course that assumes that everything is installed correctly. And you can get datalogit for PFC.

Your photo does not show your boost T so no idea if it is right. You have an aftermarket BOV which appears to be venting to atmosphere in which case that will not be good. The vacuum line to the BOV doesn't look right but I can't see where it goes.

Rb25det top end noise after new headgasket
KiwiRS4T replied to Rb25detgqpatrol's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Try a compression test. Do you know why the headgasket let go? Try pulling the coil leads one at a time to see if you can isolate the noise to one cylinder or use a big screwdriver or stethoscope to see if you can trace the noise. Got a boost leak somewhere? -
As above - great cars, suck gas.
-
Yes has been done lots there are a couple of people at least doing it now. R34 GTT ecu is similar to S2 Stagea (but GTT has traction control).
-
Stick you head under the bonnet and get someone else to turn the aircond on and off while you try to pin point the noise.

enkei rfp1's on an r32 gtst

Welcome to SAU. If you scroll down to "suspension,, braking and tyres" you will find screeds of discussion on wheel fitment options for every model of Skyline... -
Advan tc3 will they fit.
KiwiRS4T replied to MJTru's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
275 would be the minimum - 295 or 315 better - you would easy be spending more on the tyres than the wheels. -
A tune on the dyno? Put the stock FPR back on?
-
Pretty sure the Link goes into the GTT case - you may need an auxiliary loom for the IAT sensor and maybe the Map sensor

Skyline R33 series 1 no start
KiwiRS4T replied to SkylineR33Lad's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Does it fire and run or just fire? Have you checked the other factor : compression? Have a look at this and see if you missed anything: -
New engine, seized 2 seconds after first start
KiwiRS4T replied to NismoSTune's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Sounds like you got off lightly. No damage to pistons? The big question: who assembled it? -
Cefiros are very popular over here but don't see many as clean as yours!
-
Was my daily at the time - went right round the South island of NZ with my girlfriend and yes, best on a sunny day!
-
If you don't want a project you should be able to pick up an RB30DET already built. Price will depend on specification but a cheap build with stock pistons should be able to make 300RWKW without too much trouble.
-
Yes there are hundreds of such threads. Your fix may work for a while (gap your plugs down to 0.8mm as well) but start saving for some new coils.

The photo is not of my car but I had a 1962 Austin Healey 3000 almost identical to this. An apprentice motor mechanic at the time I removed the engine and gearbox and completely reconditioned both. It was a beautiful car and capable of 120 mph but I was disappointed later to be left for dead by an RX2. Not a purist, if I had this car today I would fit an RB30 and suitable gearbox and some better suspension (and brakes)!

Don't think the OP is looking for a complete tune ...just needs the timing reset.
-
275 on 9in wheels are within the LVTA guidelines but the proof of the pudding is in the photos - OPs tyres are clearly stretched and the above 285s on 10 in wheels look just right.
