The gearboxes are effectively the same part, so it would have lasted the same.

L26 engine replacement
GTSBoy replied to Bohunter's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You might have to pull it apart and give it a prostitute's rebuild. -
Is that with your head tilted to the side, or looking out the corner of your eye?

RB30E Head on R33 RB25DET Block
GTSBoy replied to teng's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yes....but caution is advised. RB30 is 2 valve engine, so the valve reliefs on high comp RB25 pistons might not be right for the larger RB30 valves. -
RB30E Head on R33 RB25DET Block
GTSBoy replied to teng's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The resulting compression ratio is NOT the same. One has a 500cc per cylinder swept volume and the other has 416cc per cylinder swept volume. Put the smaller cylinder's head on the large cylinder and the ratio will go up. A lot. Put the large cylinder's head onto the small cylinder and the ratio will go down. A lot. -
The ratio is stamped on the edge of the crownwheel (# of CW teeth and # of pinion teeth). Take the cover off and see for yourself.

The only thing that is definitely the case is that they are NOT 5x100. You could measure the PCD yourself and work this out in about 3.2 seconds. Now, the possibilities are.....Wedsport, despite being a "brand name" are a lazy bunch of f**ktards and can't be arsed having the right sizing in the moulds for wheels that they are making. Or.....you and your mates have been buying fakes, and the lazy Chinese ccommunist arseholes ripping off Wedsport are too lazy to do a good job of faking the sizing in the casting.

Don't be obtuse. It's not the definition of "flex" when referring to what fuel a car can run on. That is a fuel company somewhat deliberately confusing matters. It's also a far smaller slice of the ethanol market than is represented by United, which conveniently calls the fuel by a name that represents what it actually is.

RB25DETNEO Valves Required ASAP - Help!
GTSBoy replied to MikeR34GTT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'd be calling Ferrea tonight and asking them direct if there is a known problem with their stock replacements not fitting. Maybe they can only be fitted with Ferrea supplied retainers etc. Maybe the guy at the head shop has been enjoying too much herbal relaxation. You could try calling Lewis Engines in Adelaide. They have lots of experience with Ferrea valves in RBs.. -
L26 engine replacement
GTSBoy replied to Bohunter's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
It would have come out of a 260Z or a 260C sedan, seeing as that's about the only cars that had them here in Australia. He's having a joke, because the RB26 is the distant descendant of the L26, and is the motor from the R32-4 GTRs and is the answer to every question (other than those questions to which the answer is LS1 or 2JZ). Any Nissan L series engine will fit the box. That's all the 6s and the 4s. The 4s are a likely to be a little weak for the task. There were also some other Nissan 4s, with bigger sizes that I think share the same block/box mounting pattern. I think the Z series are like that, but I'm not enough of an old Nissan tragic to know or care. I think if you have to change the engine, you would consider changing the gearbox too, because an old manual box for an old Ford/Holden/Nissan/Toyota shitter engine won't break the bank and will vastly open up your options. To be honest, when you said the engine was running a sawbench, I did not even picture it with a gearbox. I figured some direct flywheel attachment was in order. If you really want to power it up, get a 3.8L V6 from an old Commodore, along with the manual box and the necessary fuel injection gear and make it turn the bench upside down on throttle crack! -

L26 engine replacement
GTSBoy replied to Bohunter's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Almost any engine will do, so long as it is about the same size/power/torque. These days, the smart thing to do would probably be to find an old Holden/Ford engine, or maybe an old other Nissan/Toyota of the same sort of vintage. The reason is that anything much newer will be fuel injected, and then you need high pressure fuel pumps, the ECU, sensors, etc etc all working. Old carby/distributor engines are much simpler for this application. If it were me though, I'd get an engine from a ute. 2.5 or 3L 4cyl fuel injected. But see if you can oil the bores and get the old clunker turning first. -
That's not flex. That just E85. Flex means flexible.

RB25DETNEO Valves Required ASAP - Help!
GTSBoy replied to MikeR34GTT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Intake valves are larger than exhaust valves. At this point.....surely it would be wise to look at aftermarket suppliers, rather than trying to get stockers. Look at Ferrea and all the other good valve suppliers. -
MLS gasket mixing water with oil?
GTSBoy replied to DropTheClutch's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
No, I meant stock gasket with a spray, and suck it & see. If that doesn't work, then you're going to have to pull it all apart. But if it does work, you're no worse off, in fact a lot better off than you are now. -

Traction Arm Length for bump steer
GTSBoy replied to Ben26's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
For completeness, I had my traction arms out the other day. They have adjustable bushes in them, so the stock length is a guesstimate. But I'd say that at zero adjustment the length is 210mm. At full adjust (as they were on my car) they are 213-214. -
Yes, you tune Nistune on a laptop. Have to buy a license. So Nistune will end up costing more. But it's not 1996 any more. Piggybacks are not cool.

Nistune would be smarter than any piggyback crap. The NA ECU should be able to do what you need - doesn't matter that it was auto. Nistune will actually help you to get rid of codes that the ECU will probably throw from not having the auto's TCU on-line. If you have to buy injectors, don't buy stock DET injectors. Buy some brand new Bosch injectors (or similar) from Scotty (or similar). Any big pump will do. The 255 is reasonable, but there are newer Walbros that better suit E85, for some future proofing. If you do use Nistune, grab a Z32 AFM, or an R35 blade AFM and fit that instead. No point hamstringing yourself with the NA RB25 AFM. And upgrade the brakes. And fit an LSD.
