And are we to take "gruggling" to mean "gurgling"? Like a water movement/boiling noise?
-
Like, what? Every 5-10 years or so? Major headf**k.

When is it a good time to get the ecu tuned?
GTSBoy replied to SeanR32GtSt's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Doesn't. Peak power for mine (realistic 191 rwkW stock Neo turbo) is 6900rpm. Continues to make good power until the 7500 chop chop. My RB20 in same car was happy to run all the way out to 8300. Could feel power rolling off after 7500. -

Nope. Only time that matters is when you lift off with boost and the air gets let out, leaving the engine overfuelled for the next few seconds. Under boost, the BOV is closed, so the mixtures should be what the AFM&ECU say they should be. -

It will be in the order of 10rwkW unless you add boost. But, if tuned well, it will feel a lot faster than that because more timing and less fuel in the middle of the maps will sharpen it up a lot. -
Where did "GTT" originate?
GTSBoy replied to 3Skylines's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Decilitres is like using centimetres. Only for dressmakers and people who don't know how to unit. The only thing worse than ten decilitres is one cubic decimetre. -
FPR shouldn't be crook. Pump controller might, but not too common, unless overworked with a big pump. Easy to check though. Just put a voltmeter on the wires to the pump and see what happens when it's driven.

Z32 Rear calipers on R34 Gt NA
GTSBoy replied to hugh jaynous's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
No banjo bolt for these. The brake lines have short little steel hard line ends on them that just flare nut into the hole. You will need R34 GTT type lines. Might as well get some HELs or similar. -
Sadly, it's not quite a good enough test. They can still do what you say, and be f**ked enough to not slip enough when they should and make you sound like you're driving a Patrol. A warning. Do NOT but a Davies Craig clutch hub, or a no-name unit off eBay. They are all shit. They will sound like they're stuffed already. I think Dayco might be OK, and they seem to be available on eBay. Genuine Nissan is the best choice. Do not allow someone to sell you one for a 4WD or anything other than the right one, because they have different temperature actuation points and resistance, depending on the application, fan used, etc etc.

When is it a good time to get the ecu tuned?
GTSBoy replied to SeanR32GtSt's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
So long as the tuner is able to do the board install (it's not just plug and play, there are cleaning and soldering tasks to do) and has the Consult cable and software....the answer is no. -
Donut?

I was going to say, Monday, 9AM. -
You've f**ked the viscous clutch on it. New one required.

Keep in mind that your rwhp and his rwhp are no necessarily the same thing. Let me put it to you another way. I have an RR25 Neo. 12 psi boost, big exhaust, FMIC, big cold air induction. It makes 191rwkW. Without the tune that is in the Nistuned ECU it would not go anywhere near that much power. It would be deeply f**ked by R&R. You need it tuned. Buy a PowerFC. Don't stuff around. And don't expect the R33 turbo to hold together at 12 psi either. it might, or it could shit itself in days. Spin the wheel, take your chances.

Try Monkey Warehouse. Look for district 9 on eBay https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/m.html?_ssn=district-9&_from=R40&_trksid=p2499338.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.Xr32.TRS0&_nkw=r32&_sacat=0

Strange noise at 1500rpm. VQ25DET
GTSBoy replied to Darkmeat's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
It's not because it's switching.....it's because it's mechanically f**ked, that it makes noise. -
Rubbish! The oil will have barely started to harden up at 50k. I would keep driving it for the next 300k, then think about checking the oil. Timing belt at 1000000km along with new tyres.

In Nissans GTR > GTS but in Commodores GTS > GTR. -
Sounds like a useful path to investigate.

Long pipe. Long enough to poke out through the grille. Go on. You know you want to.

Changing diff r32 skyline
GTSBoy replied to polzin's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Apart from the fact that the GTR stub axles are slightly fatter, there's not really any meaningful difference between them. -

um 3 seconds on eBay finds plenty of options in both sizes. https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=370z+rear+brake+rotor&_sacat=33564 -

Nismo 2-way GT or GT-Pro. Fit'n'forget. If you are worried about the axles, there are billet options out there. For eg. http://www.driveshaftshop.com/import-axles/nissan/skyline
