  6. Hey, just seeing if anyone around BRISBANE area is willing to help me with lending out a spare afm to see if mine is faulty, or if anyone has a cheap one in good condition for sale?
  7. Bit of background. So, car had been running rough for the past month or so where I’d get no power on boost at all basically almost felt like it was na. Checked for boost leaks, replaced plugs and coil packs compression test all fine still no progress. After about a month of scratching my head thought I’d check the ignition timing to see if that’s the issue. Got the coil cover off and CAS lose ready to adjust everything but as I went to check it all turns out my shit supercheap timing light decided to stop working. So, I put it all back together making sure to put the CAS back in its original spot so not to stuff everything up. Went for a driver and after about 20 mins car hesitated pretty violently jerking the car a bit. Kind of like fuel cut would feel like. And then 10 seconds later it all goes to shit and starts misfiring like crazy. Its struggling to stay at idle without me giving it some throttle. Then bam like the flick of a switch completely back to normal. and then a minute later it happened again misfiring like crazy. It stalls like twice as I’m trying to get it off the road to a side street its parked now and not starting at all, let her sit for about 5 minutes and tried to start it again. fired up perfectly normally and idled for a few mins completely fine and then again lots of misfiring and it died and wouldn’t start. I came back the next day to see if I could get it home because I only lived 2 mins down the road and f**k getting a tow truck for that. But same thing again stated fine got halfway there and it started to shit itself again, lucky I was on a hill so I could just roll her home. So in a nutshell Car has a intermittent misfire with no specific trigger. comes and goes every few mins. So, since its intermittent like that it’s pretty obvious its not mechanical issue. That seems like a pretty fair statement to make right? Therefore, its most likely a electrical issue. Something to do with a sensor or ecu. My best guess from my research is that its Either the AFM or CAS sensor that’s causing the issues. especially since i was fiddling arounds with the CAS sensor earlier. Does this sound about right to anyone? Thanks
  8. When do I *need* to get a z32 afm on a 20det? Hi I am trying to get 200kw out of my 20, have got: 444cc gtr injectors, gtr fmic, kinugawa td05H 8cm, walbro 255 and nistune. Will I get 200 or near kw with the stock afm? Only asking because there are heaps of different answers on the forums with people saying you can go up to 250kw with stock and some people saying you will only get to 190kw?
  9. Hi, are there any differences between the MAFs on non turbo and turbo skylines (RB25DE VS RB25DET)??? I suspect the MAF is knackered on my non turbo R33. Also what's difference between the green and pink labelled ones? I've tried searching but can't find much info and a straight answer. I recently brought the car and it has some major performance issues. I know non turbos are slow but mine is ridicilous. Honestly, it feels like it's got 80bhp max and that a 1liter Toyota Yaris would easily beat it lol. I've also been in a stock 2liter RB20e R33 with an exhaust and even that was twice as fast... It was parked up for a while so I serviced the car, changed oil, oil/fuel filter and sparkplugs. It gained alot of power but not as good as it should be. It had a broken cone filter fitted so I replaced it with a stock airbox+ filter but the car has lost power again but saw that the MAF was broken and the top has been taped up to hold it together. I pulled some of the tape off earlier so suspect that may be the cause and since then, it idles abit rough sometimes aswell but a little tap to bring to revs up sorts it out. Also the car has massive 3.5" straight though exhaust which I'm sure it's making me lose a huge amount of power. Am I right in believing that the ideal size should be 2.25 or 2.5" or wouldn't the exhaust make much difference?
  10. Hi guys, I am fitting an RB25DET 3 pin pink label AFM to an SR20DET. The plug I have for the RB AFM is not an original RB25 plug and so the colours are different. Therefore I can't distinguish which is ground, signal and power as all topics online state wire type based on colours. I need to know in which position they are so I can determine how to wire it up on SR loom. Can someone please show me a photo of an RB25 3 pin AFM plug showing which colour is in which position coming out of the plug please? I could not find a clear image anywhere Cheers Ads

I need to buy a new afm for my R33 gtst series 2 Rb25det (pink label) and I just want to know where I can trust to get one from as eBay sellers say there genuine refurbed etc but I'm unsure, cheers.
  13. HR30 Skyline - running rough after being in storage hey guys, hoping someone here can point me in the right direction....100% stock standard 1982 Nissan Skyline HR30 – L20ET. Was running perfectly fine as a daily driver until put into storage January 2014. Unfortunately I neglected to put in a fuel stabiliser, but did leave the battery on an automatic charger. Around 18 months later in mid 2015 I started it, maybe put in some new fuel, maybe not, drove it around for a week then put it back into storage, was running fine.Fast forward another 18 months and I’m back in the country permanently now and looking to return it to a daily driver, I hopped in and cranked it, battery has heaps of cranking power, but the engine didn’t want to fire, gave it a little more throttle than normal and it ran with the engine shaking like an unbalanced washing machine for around 10-20 seconds before I turned it off.Next I drained the fuel tank, replaced with 20L of 95 octane fuel, replaced fuel filter, then tried again. Engine no longer shaking and but sounds like running on 4 or 5 cylinders. I can now hear the old fuel pump running almost constantly – it never used to do this.Replaced fuel pump with new Bosch pump from NZEFI, looks identical to stock. Still running rough, new fuel pump running almost constantly.Cleaned fuel injectors using this method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUUgR94drxg- this seemed to get it idling a bit better (engine was cold), and at first I thought I had fixed it, could rev it freely when it was cold.However after a couple minutes of idling and warming up (still sounds like on 5 cylinders) when I give it 1/3rd throttle or more it will hesitate and cut in and out. If I persist with trying to rev it, sometimes it will hesitate, cut out, cut back in then rev nearly freely up to 4000rpm or so. If I try and drive down the street, under 1/3rd throttle or more it will surge violently, cut in and out, if I back off the throttle I can drive it at around 30-40kph but its pretty temperamental.Next I put in new spark plugs and leads, same symptoms.Next replaced the AFM with second hand one, disconnected battery, stood on brakes, reconnected battery, same symptoms. Then I took the black cover off and turned it counter clockwise 5-10 clicks to richen the mixture. This seemed to get it to run a little bit better, but after a couple of laps around the block it was back to surging / cutting in and out.I’ve had a look around general wiring, pulled plugs off and used contact cleaner. Pulled the distributor off, looks fine, the gears at the bottom which I think is the Camshaft Angle Sensor look fine.Not sure what to do next, what do these symptoms sound like to you? It seems like it gets worse as the car warms up.As a side note, after installing the second hand AFM now the temperature gauge goes to above hot as soon as you turn on the ignition.
  14. r34 gtt rb25neo ok so i just finished installing tomei poncams 260deg 9.15mm lift bosch 040 fuel pump z32 afm bosch 750cc injectors power fc im using the standard fuel rail and plenum i started it up fine but she was puffin the black smoke so i assumed it was running way too rich. it now doesnt start prob flooded and spark plugs all carboned up. i have a power fc and have no clue how to just do a basic adjustment of the settings just so she idles and runs so i can get it out for a test drive and then on the trailer to get it tuned professionally. any help would be greatly appreciated.
  15. I’m going to be building my neo up soon with a top mounted gtx3076 gen2, 6 boost etc. Don’t intend to push for lots of power, just a nice road setup. On 98 Ron I have what I believe to be a r35 gtr afm already, came with the power F.C., although I currently am tuned on the stock afm if I want to use this gtr afm, I have read I need it in a 4” tube, is that accurate ? Or how have others mounted them. Also, is there much to tuning the power F.C. using the r35 afm or is it easy enough, will it limit my tune much or will it be a good job. Some tuners I have spoke to are trying to get me to go for a link ecu, but for now I have the pfc.
